Mermayternity Day 5
Selkie mommy
Still getting used to drawing on my phone, but here's an only partially half-assed piece for Mermayternity of a poor giant mer who tried to brace against some cliffs to give birth to their twins, but ended up getting stuck without the buoying assistance of the water when low tide went out. *old timey sailor voice* And if ye look close, ye can see that there mer ain't the only sea-farer with a babe low on their hips. If ya wait long enough, they're both bound to be in labor all at once!
Mermayternity 2026

Mermaid pregnancy ideas!!!!!
I got bored, its mayternity, I am doing mermaid pregnancy ideas, their kinda based off of seahorses cause I'm a freak and think big bellies are cool whether their on a man or a woman or whoever.
The amount of babies a mermaid can have ranges from 1 like a regular person to 40 which is allot.
Mermaids are born as eggs and slowly hatch over a few weeks.
Mermaids can get pregnant within the first 2 weeks after birth.
If a Mermaid ends up overdue they will give birth to live babies as opposed to eggs.
Similar to vampires, Mermaids can have more than one person get them pregnant during a single pregnancy, but unlike vampires it does not extend the pregnancy.
Mermaid pregnancy lasts 10 to 12 months as opposed to 9 like a normal person (or 5 years like with vampires).
Deep sea Mermaids give birth to only 1 or 3 offspring who are much larger due to deep sea gigantism.
Realized I never posted this for Mermayternity last year, so may as well do it now lol
Magical Curiosities 5: Mermen
Storms are very dangerous for mermen in advanced pregnancies because the sea becomes unstable, the waves crash hard, and they disorientate them. In these cases, they must go to dry land as a last resort. They must also remain calm, otherwise their birth could occur early and they would be extremely vulnerable to humans or other animals.
