Do we realise our echoes?

It happens often, I believe,

People together share phrases,

And gestures get reflected back.

But even beyond the obvious,

Imagine being with your family,

Then imagine your friends near,

Who you are shifts and changes,

Not completely different but rearranges.

We’re editing ourselves to fit company,

Imitating gestures where comfortable.

What a lovely sign of caring,

A wonderful imitation to demonstrate love.

Humanity is soft to each other,

Even in simple gesture.

List of habits I picked up from fictional characters that literally nobody asked for

Fanning myself with my hands from hazel levesque (this eventually brought back handflapping a stim I'd suppressed when in kindergarten)

Spinning whatever rings or jewelry I'm wearing from both annabeth chase and nico di angelo

The bakugou explosion pose when frustrated or angry from katsuki bakugou obvs

Snapping my fingers next to my ear which became such a habit I'll do it on accident from Virgil Sanders

Scratching my neck which I'm trying to break because it's harmful from tomura shigaraki

Clicking my heels together when I'm wearing heels or if I'm bored Dorothy from wizard of oz this is one of my oldest mimic habits

Repeating the rhyme from the second??? Eragon book that the princess uses to avoid her mind being read (the yellow eyes one)

Making beep nooo sounds at robots from pidge (katie) holt

There's probably a bunch more but these are the ones I remember and can directly trace back to the characters
