I thought i'd talk about the Mare plugin drama on here since there isn't a character limit and I'd like to discuss my experience with it.
For people out of the loop, Mare is a ff14 plugin that allows users to share their mods to someone they sync with without actually giving the user in question their mods. The problem arises that in doing so it creates a huge security risk. Users must acknowledge this security risk before they can use the service.
Problem is, there is a legitimate puzzle if you fail to properly read the user agreement--holding ctrl while clicking agree. The puzzle goes like this: you are given three boxes to fill out, each saying things like "paragraph 3, sentence 4, word 25." You then have go through the user agreement and find that exact word via counting. But along with this comes an extremely demeaning message.
A large creator by the name of Runa recently raised concerns about the accessibility of this, how a lot of less abled and multilingual people struggle with this puzzle.
But here's the thing, I raised concerns about this to multiple friends as well as had it brought up in their discord *months* ago. I had a legit breakdown because of how stupid this agreement made me feel and a friend brought this up in their discord in August.
And this fantastic response of "well I have a disability and it didn't affect me"
This is all to say they do not care about disability advocacy and only care to save face. It is extremely frustrating that my concerns were completely dismissed months ago, but it took a much larger creator bringing this up to have anything resolved.
