Welcome to the new official MSEED blog!!!

Hey everyone!

Do you like science, math, education, or all of the above? If so, then you are in the right place!

 Many of you may be wondering, “What exactly is MSEED?” Well, to begin with, it’s formally called Mathematics and Science Education Enrollment and Development, but since that’s a mouthful, we all just say MSEED. The primary goal of the program is to train undergraduate students to thrive in math and science education careers (that is, to become awesome elementary, middle, and high school teachers). It was started by a grant from the National Science Foundation in 2011, which allows the program to support fifteen new students per year, while providing them with scholarships as well as summer research opportunities. MSEED scholars have a variety of majors, including biology, chemistry, mathematics, physical geography and physics. Run by our fearless leadership team consisting of math, science and education professors, we strive to find new ways of being future successful teachers and have a ton of fun while doing it!

Two of the MSEEDers are in charge of running social media this year. Brittany, the person writing right now, will be running the blog while assisting with other MSEED social media, while Chris will be running the organization's Facebook and Twitter. So who exactly are these people? Here's a little bit about us!

Brittany is a sophomore Chemistry and Elementary Education major. She hopes to teach in grades 4-8 to get students interested in science at a young age. At Valpo, she does a lot of science outreach with the science program. When she's not busy with science, she can be found singing around campus, especially in the Valpo Chapel choir. Some of the things that bring her joy include puppies, science, music, books, and everything Disney.

Chris is a freshman math and secondary education major. He will be running MSEED's Twitter and Facebook pages this year. His favorite class this semester is his Math Colloquium class because it discusses interesting topics in math. Aside from his studies, he enjoys tutoring, watching The Walking Dead, and playing Pokémon.

We hope that you enjoy following the MSEEDers adventures throughout the year and maybe learn some cool stuff about STEM and education!

สารภาพตรงๆ วันที่คุณต้น Sakolkorn Sakavee ชวนผมเข้ามาเป็นที่ปรึกษาในโครงการ MSEED ผมยังไม่แน่ใจนักว่าสุดท้ายแล้วมันจะออกมายังไง ผมว่ามันบ้ามากๆ ถ้ามีคนไทยที่อยากทำ VC ด้านเกม แถมยังวางเป้าจะก้าวไปในระดับโลกซะอีก มันทำให้ผมนึกถึงสมัยก่อนที่ผมมีความฝันอยากจะทำเกม MMORPG Asura Online Never Ending สู้กับเกาหลีผมเอาเกมไปขายทุกค่ายไปหานายทุนทุกคนแทบไม่มีใครเชื่อว่าเราทำเกมออนไลน์ได้

ไม่ว่าสุดท้ายโครงการนี้จะเป็นอย่างไร ผมมั่นใจว่าคนทำเกมอย่างพวกเราก็น่าจะได้ประโยชน์จากโครงการนี้ถ้าเรา Hack มันเป็น

2 วิธีการลงทุนในโครงการที่ยืดหยุ่น

จากที่ผมได้สัมผัสทีมงานหลายๆ ท่านรู้สึกว่าหลายคนยังใหม่และมองโลกในแง่ดี (ซึ่งเป็นทั้งพรและคำสาป) ซึ่งความใหม่นี่เองทำให้มีความยืดหยุ่นในการปรับแผนการลงทุน ตอนนี้ทางโครงการค่อนข้างเปิดขว้างมากๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการลงทุนในบริษัทเดิม เปิดบริษัทใหม่เพื่อร่วมลงทุนรายโครงการ ผมเชื่อว่าถ้าทีมเราคือตัวจริง น่าจะพอพูดคุยต่อรองกันได้ ความเป็นบริษัทใหม่ทุกคนอย่างเร่งสร้างผลงาน ถ้า MSEED ไม่ใช้เงินลงทุนเลยก็คงไม่มีผลงานแน่ๆ

3 ทำทีเดียว ได้ 2 เด้งในโครงการ Thailand Digi Challenge

ตอนที่พวกเรากำลังปั้นโครงการ MSEED ขึ้นมาผมได้มีโอกาสพูดคุยกับ SIPA เรื่อง Thailand Digi Challenge (ผมเป็นกรรมการของโครงการ Digi Media 2013) แล้วพบว่าช่วงเวลาในการจัดงานใกล้เคียงกัน ทั้งสองงานน่าจะสามารถมีส่วนช่วยเสริมกันและกันได้
