NETWORK RIVALRY: Intensified by Social Media
Rivalry or Competition or however you’d like to call it. Some competitions are healthy because they motivate competitors to strive harder, improve their craft and yield to nothing but a better outcome for both. But rivalry is a different kind of competition, almost harsh just by the sound of it. Network Rivalry in the Philippines is a pretty big issue these passed few days. (but not as huge and relevant as the social and political issues we are facing. i.e. left-and-right cases against the presidentiables, poverty, and immense traffic situation, protection of Philippine territory.) One is dying for predominance while the other making fuzz about their newly found gems. It happened before (lost count of the number) and it’s happening once again. This war has blown out of proportion because of people’s innovative way of expressing opinions. The launch of new social media platforms in this century that are easily accessible by anyone and anybody who has internet access. You don’t have to be influential or with authority to speak up. You only need INTERNET! Yes, and with it you can be part of the modern world heroes- “keyboard warriors.” You don’t need evidence to prove your points. You only need persuasive words, UPPERCASE LETTERS, and most importantly, anonymous sources/insiders who claim to be reliable but require protection. I don’t want to go into details about this because what I only wanted to say is, this is not the reason or purpose why these social media are created for. THINK BEFORE YOU POST AND CLICK. ENJOY WHAT THE SNS HAS TO OFFER. IGNORE WHAT IS OUT OF YOUR INTEREST. LIKE A POST. FAVORITE A TWEET. REBLOG. REVINE. LOVE PHOTOS. etc. All are positive default reactions so where do all these negativity are coming from? Freedom of speech? Oh, please~ #ootb
