Warnings: Brief mention of nightmares. Body horror?
It’s not like Logan didn’t know that there was something odd with Virgil. He noticed how he would stare at the mirror a little longer ever since Deceit make an appearance, and while the half-snake side wasn’t that bad inside the Thomas’ subconscious he noticed the way Virgil would…
Hide…
Then the puppets things came around and he couldn’t help but noticed that Virgil’s eyes were different. Two different buttons. He didn’t pay attention to that, because if Virgil didn’t want to make a big deal about it, he wouldn’t either.
–
It was until a night where he heard Virgil high-pitch scream. He went into his room after calming down the other sides. He entered, without making a lot of noise but making his presence known.
He saw Virgil breathing irregularly on his couch.
“Hey, Vi, I am here.” He said with a soothing voice, “I’m going to get closer, okay?”
“No, get away.” That distorted voice said but Logan paid no attention.
It wasn’t until there that he noticed Virgil’s crimson-red-eyed and how that part of his right face was shattered, as if he was a broken porcelain doll.
“I’m here Virgil.” He said, sitting next to him and helping him breathing.
–
He didn’t mention it, not because he didn’t want to talk about it, but because he didn’t want to make Virgil uncomfortable.
It was inevitable, they had to talk about it eventually and Logan wasn’t going to put any pressure on the youngest trait.
–
“Let’s talk about the elephant in the room,”Virgil said, entering into Logan’s room without knocking.
“Th-There is an elephant? Oh my god, I didn’t see it.” He answered, getting up of the desk and looking around, clearly scared.
“No, I mean,” He sighed, and showed the other appearance, Half of his face shattered and the red eye.
“Oh…”
“Yeah…”
“So…” He cleared his throat, “That’s why you don’t shapeshift, huh?”
“Yeah,” he looked away, “It takes a lot of energy to pretend.”
“Why?”
“I don’t wanna scare you.”
“You won’t.”
Silence.
Heavy uncomfortable silence.
“I think it looks good, the red eye i mean.” Virgil chuckled.
“I guess.”
“It has any powers?” He blurted and regretted the moment it left his mouth.
“They’re not powers…they’re more like special abilities.” He cleared his throat, god he hated being uncomfortable around Logan. “With this,” he pointed the red eye, “I can see like… the future? I don’t know how to explain it but I can see all the things that could go wrong and the other just the present.”
“Virgil, that’s… incredible…”
And they talk, and talk, and laugh and suddenly Virgil wasn’t uncomfortable anymore nor scared of his appearance.
And while it might take a while to let the others know, he wasn’t afraid anymore…
