In Wisdom Saga, it's so funny that Athena describes her relationship ending with Oddysseus as "we grew apart" like they just stopped talking as opposed to the two of them singing an entire song dragging each other through the mud. "You've grown soft, your dead friends can attest" "I mistook you for a general" "After all, you're just a man" "Why's your life spent all alone?" "[you're] selfish and prideful and vain"

Yeah, you two really drifted apart over time, huh?

Bucky as Oddysseus just makes sense to me like...When does a man become a monster?!

Bucky becoming the winter soldier? Then learning how to be a man again as he journeys to make it back home?

Him having to accept the fact that a part of the winter soldier will always be inside of him?

A journey to make his way towards a brighter future and towards happiness? Back to Sam!

And Sam as Penelope makes me think of how he is handed over the responsibilities of looking after the nation and being it's new protector.

Having to fight for the respect of the people, who constantly look down on him and try to take over and replace him at every turn?

Sam putting up a strong front, trying to hold everything together, waiting for Bucky to return, so that they can face the future together.

Oh yeah. I see the vision.

I really love Penelope's portrayal in Epic: The Musical because even though she only has two songs she's such a strong character and parrallels her husband in so many ways. She also suffered for twenty years. She also never gave up on her partner. She's also cunning and a liar. The fact that the Siren's impression of Penelope is cheerful and non-confrontational and teasing but without any genuine love and when he actually meets the real one she lies to test whether it's really him and when it is immediately goes "Shut the fuck up, of course I still love you". I just think she's such a strong character and the musical does a good job making a relatively passive role more active. "I never thought that this would be the lengths we'd go for love, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
