A fatigued Siegbert enters the armory to dutifully return sparring weapons to their proper place with immediate plans to retire to his room for the night to enjoy some light reading shortly after. A rustling noise catches his attention and in the corner he notices her small figure teetering atop a cardboard box. Even on her tip toes, her height pales in comparison to his own. He quickly sets his lance on the stone floor before joining her, taking care to avoid startling his friend.  “Allow me,” he offers along with a polite smile. When she indicates the desired item, he manages to reach it with relative ease. His physical stature has proven helpful on various occasions, but he appreciates it most when he’s able to utilize it to assist others. 

She vocally expresses her thanks with a wide grin; Gratitude twinkles bright in her eyes. He unconsciously leans forward to bestow a simple peck to her rosy cheek.The brush of his lips is brief, light.  “ Anytime, friend. I hope you’ve experienced a most enjoyable birthday. ” His head tilts slightly, innocently, as if he’s unaware of the implications of such a gesture.

           He’s careful in his approach of her, ensuring that a certain ninja isn’t lurking nearby. It’s his dear friend’s birthday and he has no interest in fighting with her cousin today. A fond smile tugs at the corner of his lips when he spots her. Had she grown taller? It’s been a while since he last saw her due to the growing tensions between Asugi and the crown prince.   He must return to training soon, but he specifically set aside some time to offer her his best wishes along with a small package.

          In his steady hands rests a copy of an anthology of written poetry.  Siegbert had taken advantage of his royal connections in order to get his hands on this paperback in particular. It was fairly popular among the nobles and currently difficult to find. He’s taken much care in preserving its integrity until it safely reaches her possession. Perhaps in the future the two of them will find an opportunity to read it together as per their usual routine. Her eyes light up as she notices his presence; twin-tails tousling softly as she turns to greet him. He shyly passes the book along to her as anxiety creeps its way into his heart. He had been so certain she'd enjoy the present, but in the moment, he finds his nerves taking over. Insecurities give way to self-doubt. Fortunately, he masks it well; manages to swallow it down in fear of worrying her. Midori is a kind-hearted girl, afterall, surely she’d be appreciative of any gift.

“ Midori, I wish to extend to you my sincerest, best wishes.        A happy birthday to you and many more to come ! ”
