I apologize for the crappy banner. I’m a newbie at this. So this is my first orig text post I’m so excited !!
Okay, so I am quite known for being really eloquent with my essays and a friend asked how I do it. It’s been a standard for me to follow this format I made. I had teachers to give me tips over the years and I made a structure around it. Soooo, I’m here to share it to you ~ /(//^•^//)/
* First off, analyze the question first. Find the question you need to answer. Is it how? What? Why? There are specific words that answers each question. Example:
How - by, in the manner of
Why - Because, for
These words also help the teacher examine if you answer it right and helps you start in the right track.
* Understand !! The !! Question !! Trust me, you will regret not rereading the question. I have my times when I thought I needed to explain what the subject of the question is but it turns out I needed to place my opinion it.
* Look at the rubrics. This is the standard of grading for the essays and usually, they are placed with the essay questions. If they aren’t, then make your own standards. Mine are usually by the number of sentences, points given and how powerful the conclusion is.
* Gather background information about the subject matter. This is for your introductory statement/ paragraph. If the question is asking what you think the most important use for radio waves, you can either get information on what are the different uses of radio waves or what radio waves are first.
* OUTLINE. This is so important because this is the bone structure of your essay. You can make an outline by making bullet points of what your essay contains. Example:
* Introduction: Radio waves
* Telecommunication
* Positive and negative effects
* Conclusion: Telecommunication is the best use of RW
*IT IS A BIG NO NO TO START LIKE THIS: (Yes/No), because… when it comes to “do you” questions. Always rephrase the question into assertive (if yes) or negative (if no) THEN explain your stand. Same goes for other essays.
* Before you make that statement, use the information about the subject matter to make an introduction to your essay. If the required length is only a paragraph or two, write a sentence long paragraph that introduces the topic. If it requires a lot, dedicate an entire paragraph to talking about it.
* Add a sentence that connects the introduction to the body of the essay.
ex. Radio waves is specifically known for this use: Telecommunication.
* The sentence should feel like opening a door to your essay. Idk, I describe it this way because that’s what it feels like for me. If I feel like I’m not opening a door with it, I rewrite the sentence.
* Doing the body is simple when you start good with your introduction. You write points to support your idea. Usually, you need three or four points to satisfy the length of the essay.
* Make sure sentences don’t sound disjointed when read together. It breaks the flow of your essay and makes it sound meh. Organization is part of the rubrics, and the flow of your sentences is included.
* Don’t write so stiffly. What I mean is that your choice of words and sentence structure is too formal (unless it’s a reallyformal essay but don’t overdo it). Yes, it will amaze your teacher but sometimes they deduct points because it’s unecessary. Write in the proper level of writing.
* I don’t know about you, but conclusions are hard for me. Because what is the point of rewriting what you wrote? I am always at loss for words when I get to the conclusion so I don’t repeat my stand.
* What I do however, is recreate an entire idea that binds my essay to the question. ((that sentence is an example of writing too stiffly). I make a new statement that contains my final words about the topic.
* BUT it’s easier to write conclusions when you can dedicate an entire paragraph to it. You can summarize your points with more space than just a sentence. So use paragraph conclusions wisely because they are incredibly useful and vital to hit that bullseye score you want.
