Behold the glory that is EL wire!

This pauldron is still very much in progress, but it's far enough along to show off! Just ignore the super thin copper wires holding everything in place. Left side with the single copper circle is the front, right side with two circles is the back.

It's shoulder shaped! With cool copper designs! And GLOWING BLUE!

Under the cut I've got some photos of what it looks like with the glow turned off. Next step: fill in all the flat surfaces with structural filigree so that it looks like single a solid object.

Obviously it's not quite as impressive without the blue glow, because EL wire is epic. But EL wire also drains batteries pretty fast and isn't very bright in daylight, so I need to make sure it looks good in both modes.

When it's off, the EL looks similar enough to white-grey steel that it still fits into the patterns. It becomes embellishment to the copper instead of overshadowing it. Over-glow-ing it? Whatever. The point is that the whole thing still looks cool.
