First Armenian International Telemedicine Congress
Dr. Peter Killcommons spoke at the first Armenian International Telemedicine Congress in Yerevan, Armenia, in 2011. During his speech, he spoke about the challenges of implementing medical technology in Afghanistan and collaborating with the Nangahar university hospital. Dr. Peter Killcommons is a telemedicine and teleradiology expert and philanthropist who donated a Medweb telemedicine system to help further develop medical services in underserved Armenian areas. During his time in Armenia, Pete Killcommons visited with professionals from Georgia, Armenia, Germany, Austria, Russia, and Yerevan to discuss ways to advance medical development and telemedicine projects. In total, the congress had 287 participants, including 95 students and faculty from the hosting university. In addition, Dr. Killcommons had a chance to visit local Armenian villages, participate in a classic Armenian picnic, and visit an ancient temple. During the congress, Killcommons was presented with a personalized bottle of Armenian cognac and will appear at the second Armenian International Telemedicine Congress in the upcoming years.
