Me immediately after writing all my Statement of Purpose essays: These are shit! I’m never going to get admitted to a PhD program!
Me after setting them aside for 2-3 weeks and then coming back to proofread/edit them: Um...these actually sound good?! These might actually might make my application stronger.

Can I ask for a letter a recommendation to a (visiting) Professor from the University where I want to apply for a PhD? I feel like maybe it puts them in a difficult position, but not sure why.

PhD Application Updates
This week was a roller coaster. Tuesday I got my first acceptance (Adler University) and Friday I got my first rejection (University of Wisconsin-Madison).
I have an interview next week (Kansas State U), in three weeks (U of Iowa), and in four weeks (Mount Mercy U). I'm also waiting to hear when I'll have a zoom interview (U of Nebraska-Lincoln, edit- scheduled for two weeks out).
Have yet to hear from two programs (U of Minnesota-Twin Cities is assumed rejection and Antioch University apps close 1/31).

I just submitted my application for a PhD and I'm veering between being insanely excited about doing something so amazing and being genuinely terrified of rejection

I got an interview to University of Iowa!!!
They have an on campus LGBTQ Counseling Clinic that provides therapy FREE of charge. It would be an amazing opportunity to get to experience as an LGBTQ therapist getting experience at an LGBTQ clinic.
Today is the Day!
Many PhD applications are due tomorrow. I am finalizing, submitting, and paying for all applications that I have not already submitted and paid for.
Applying for PhDs is expensive!
I am also spending the day freaking out about reference letters that haven’t been submitted yet 😨
