okay, i guess this is a prompt?? i just KNOW dani would come home from the store one day with this silly dancing cactus for jamie — and jamie simultaneously thinks it’s silly and cute.

"Jamie, come look!"

Dani had gone out in pursuit of cookies, the ones she knew Jamie liked. She came home cookieless, with a plush cactus in hand.

"Dani, love, what the hell is that?" Jamie gawked at the toy in Dani's arms. It was thin, with bulging eyes and a stupid smile. Jamie, for all of her annoyance, couldn't help but crack a smile.

"Look at what it does!"

She set it on the kitchen counter and the pair watched in amusement as it began to dance. Jamie's jaw fell open, and Dani hid her giggling. "Is it—"

"Yep. It was in the window of a shop, and it made me think of you."

"A dancing cactus made you think of me?"

"Well. . . yes."

Jamie worked hard to keep her face stony, bur rhe second Dani's began to fall, Jamie grinned and put her arms around Dani's torso. "I love it," she whispered when she was half an inch away from Dani's face. Dani grinned.

"Not here. Phil is watching us."

"Phil?"

"Yes. Phil, Jamie. Jamie, Phil."

"Oh, for the love of God."
