born as the result of an affair to a young, waitress mother and a criminal father
had an exceptionally good childhood, loved her parents endlessly, her father embedded her young mind with many tricks of the trade which she thought were simple games at that age
around 7 her father disappeared, never returning to visit her mother or her again
she was distraught over his absence but never believed he willingly abandoned them
things were okay until eventually, her mother broken from her fathers disappearance, fell into a severe heroin addiction
suran had to become the breadwinner at a young age but working under the table wasn’t enough, eventually she started employing the things her father taught her and started pickpocketing - working up to bigger thefts in order to keep her and her mother afloat
it wasn’t easy, not with her having to keep up with school, care for her mother and keep her from overdosing, and paying the bills. she started to lose hope, started to slip on keeping a close eye on her mother until eventually suran came home and she wasn’t there. and she never came back.
she searched the city, interrogated drug dealers, and found nothing.
she lived a lonely life, going through the motions, barely staying alive. every week she’d hit up the same dealers for any info regarding her mom. she did this for a year until eventually one snapped at her. so she robbed him blind, and the dragon eyes second in command (sien) witnessed this entire interaction, thus recruiting her for the gang.
she loves the dragon eyes so much. they’re her new family and she’d die for them, every single member. being a criminal definitely comes secondhand to suran so she fits in easily, she fails to see the moral implications of a lot of her actions bc she thinks they’re normal.
def tries to act more mature for her age but is still, in many ways, a child despite being forced to grow up quick. since she’s finally found a safe, comfortable space with the dragon eyes she’s enjoying the freedom of acting like a kid again (since she never really had the chance to growing up) with less spine breaking responsibilities.
