Polyclad Flatworm (Phylum Platyhelminthes)
Three Weird Facts:
1. They are hermaphrodites and practice internal fertilization. 2. Their digestive tract has only one opening--the mouth. Food is taken in through the mouth, and undigested waste is ejected through same. 3. Deprived of food for long periods of time, they will begin to digest themselves. They shrink in size as they begin to digest their own organs but will grow back to normal size when they start eating again, regenerating all lost organs.
