When at home the best thing to do for a pre k child is to talk to them and read to them.
Talking builds language and vocabulary. I recommend talking with them and not at them. Use words as you normally would, not babied down for them. Explain words they don't know with words they do know.
Read to them daily.if they want to read the same book a million times do it until you're so sick of it you need to change it and then hide it for a little bit.they learn through repetition it is one of the steps of learning to read of understanding the story. Seeing the print, they can pick up how to handle a book where the title is following left to right on the page top to bottom....
