My modern AU trans fem Darry headcanons are way lighter than the ones that are in the canon time period so I’ll just start with those. I feel like Darry would really like Kim Possible, and once she starts letting herself dress more feminine she accidentally starts to dress like her.

I feel like Darry would stress about needing to you the restroom in public, even if it’s just to wash her hands. Due to where they live and just the general fear of being scene as “a man in the woman’s bathroom” (very realistic fear)
The idea of Darry really wanting to dress fem for a long time, even before they knew they were trans, but they would just stare at their frame and say “I don’t wanna get hate crimed 🫤” Then dropping the idea for a whole week, tickles my brain.
Darry likes the movie “Perfect Blue” (I kinda had a fic idea based of chase scene at the end of the movie I don’t wanna say to much so I don’t spoil the movie)
In my head Darry coming out (to Two-Bit at least) was completely accidental. Like they could’ve been playing a video game or something, and Two-Bit asks:
“Why do you always pick the female characters?” “I like, wanna be a woman but like… it’s too hard to come out and stuff.”
“Did you just…?”
“Did I what?”
“…”
“I didn’t say— fuck.”
I don’t have as many ones for the canon time period of the novel, but they’re all pretty much angst.
Darry watched the movie “Some Like it Hot” (The movie where 2 men dress in drag to escape the mob) at the drive in when they were 15. They realized something about themselves at that point. Used to paint their toenails and just always wore socks until summer rolls around.
When her hair got long enough she’d look in the bathroom mirror and comb it down till it looked like she always wore her hair that way. She’d do it when she felt more dysphoric than usual. I feel like at 17 Darry would try to come out Paul when they were feeling really dysphoric, and Paul would say something like “You’re a transvestite?” And Darry immediately felt like they were faking what they felt. Later in the relationship the two would probably have a fight about how Paul was so distant from them, and that they were worried about their relationship straining even more. Paul ends up telling Darry to “Shut up, and that *he* wasn’t a woman anyway, because if *he* was then *he* wouldn’t be yelling at him” That shatters Darry’s sense of self for months. I didn’t mean to write parry angst (or at least not that much)
One time Soda said that he and could pass for a broad if time ever came, and said that he was lucky he wasn’t built like Darry. (Soda said that in a joking manner to Steve, not knowing about Darry) Darry cried a lot that night.
I’m gonna end up making myself cry, so let’s talk about my Dar-Bit headcanons with trans fem Darry in a modern AU (because the one the headcanons that take place in the 60s will also make me cry)
I feel like Darry really likes bunnies so whenever Two-Bit has something to tell her they would end up going to a pet store where you can hold the bunnies. Kinda like that scene in psych.
For reference (again):
Darry would pick something up with absolute glee if it’s an animal or from a franchise she likes, but acts like it was something that looked mildly interesting to them. Two-Bit, paying attention to the way Darry feels about feels about buying things for herself will randomly gift her things she really liked but didn’t buy for herself.
Darry and Two-Bit have wildly different video game preferences. Darry would enjoy cozy game genres and rpgs (I’m projecting onto her) While Two-Bit would probably play online shooters.
These Two remind me of Darry and Two. (It’s not hard to figure out which is which
