My mother never wanted to be a mother and she was an abusive and toxic person my whole childhood and has continued to be so. Fortunately, I moved and then moved again even further away. We've never had a relationship but I have tried and tried; with a subconscious death grip on the idea that maybe one day I could have a mother. But I am finally letting go. I don't need it. I don't need her. I don't want it. I have been, and can continue to be, my own mother. I am enough.
