Riding my bike in #CentralPark yesterday, I came upon a lovely grove of trees near Bethesda Fountain; each had a WWI memorial plaque at its base naming many of the 500 New Yorkers who died in what wouldn't be the 20th century's only global conflict. 2017 is of course a 100th anniversary. The things you can see for the first time in your own city. I have also stumbled upon #RemembranceRock on the upper Manhattan campus of City College for students who died in the 'great' war, as in one that produced a prodigious number of deaths. A lugubrious history sadly and respectfully memorialized. #MemorialTree #NYC
