Thanks, and your writing IS wonderful (even though I'm a little behind at the present time).
My pleasure, Dan! It means a lot! ^_^

On the awful Glee fandom, I think there's something to be said for the mindset of the young audience. Rachel Berry, an atrociously spoiled, entitled character who'd been told from birth that she's gifted and special, became the identification figure for the audience, many of whom undoubtedly suffer from princess-complex and have grown believing that they're special . When Blaine was introduced, they underwent a collective seat wetting: they wanted to BE Rachel and they wanted to BED Blaine.
I think you’re definitely right about that. While their principle obsession seems to be Blarren, I think there’s a definite affinity between Rachel’s character and their behavior as a whole, particularly with the whole martyrdom complex that the narrative so often depicted as sympathetic (even when it really shouldn’t have been and was her own damn fault).
But I think the show as a whole has conditioned them to think along the lines of ‘us versus them’ from the start. It’s taught them that the ‘good’ guys can act like assholes and it’s perfectly okay: when Puck, Sue and Quinn bully people it’s funny, when big, mean Karofshee does it it’s evil and an act that should be punishable by death.
This narrative has never been responsible and always manipulative, is what I’m saying.
More than I bargained for.
About a month ago, I asked for Blaine-hate fic recs hoping to revel in my hatred of Blaine Anderson. So, I read a few really good ones, then I read "The Last Fan Fiction" (because it was pretty short) and found it to be the most perfect fic there could be about the male gay characters on Glee. Then I read "Strange Currencies" and I fell in love with Dave Karofsky, something I never predicted. I always thought he was a great character but now I'm in love with him and even more pissed off that the potential of that ship was ignored by Glee. And "Lima Noir" was totally satisfying as Blaine-hate as well.
Damn you, Rugbern
rugbern said: This won’t happen because they would never believe that Max is gay. No, these people can’t wrap their heads around the idea of someone of Max’s body type and personality actually being gay
Yeah, I honestly wouldn't put that faulty logic past them either.
rugbern said: What I don’t get is if they hate the character as much as they do, that must mean that the actor is doing a great job, right? So they should like the actor, right?
The problem with what you've said is that it makes perfect sense. And I'm convinced these people have some kind of congenital condition that makes them utterly immune to logic.

And she's basically just a kid. Kids do dumb things.
Pretty much. She's the little kid trying to be an adult

Hey, it's the life of a celebrity. It's all about attention. She hasn't done anything really deplorable of which I am aware, and celebrity trainwrecks are fun to laugh at, so, she does me no harm.
The worst she has done is I would say use slurs, cultural appropriation and make rape jokes. Although even though she is a train wreck she has been said to even still has her sweet moments.
