Hi, writeblr! It's been a while since I last introduced my blog, and some stuff about me has changed!

So, here's my bio:

Name: Bee

Pronouns: She/they (I'm a woman in the same way a limoncello La Croix tastes like lemon.)

Age: 24

I'm also a fat person with ADHD and I love incorporating themes of neurodivergence, body positivity, disability, body neutrality, and eating disorders within my stories.

Summary:

The world broke a century ago. The domed Gale City is all that's left of it. Almost.

As the year 2107 hits, the city has gotten stranger. Monstrous Shiftbeasts lurk the streets, and those who can flee to the highest floors of the towering skyscrapers to avoid them.

There's only one group that can stand between innocent civilians and the shiftbeasts: the superheroes.

Unfortunately, not all of the superheroes are in it for justice. Some of them just want the bag--the fame, the fortune, and the social media clout that comes with having a hot costume and a cool power.

The charming Tory Burns, seventeen years old, is secretly Everlux, the hottest hero in Gale City. What Gale City doesn't know is that Tory and his mother have been faking most of his good deeds and posting them on the internet. Tory has a pretty neat superpower, but he doesn't have a lick of hero training, preferring to make sure his hair looks good for the camera instead.

The intrepid Alex Hale, Tory's best friend, has been trained to be a hero since he was young, only to find out that he didn't inherit either of his superpowered parents' abilities. Kicked out of training and sore from losing his dream career, he struggles with trying to be an ordinary teenager.

When Everlux and Alex stumble into a citywide conspiracy and a tricky supervillain that can control heroes like puppets, Tory has to make sure the best friend he secretly crushes on never finds out who Everlux really is, and Alex has to teach the exact kind of superhero he despises how to be a real hero.

Hey, it's okay if you're a writer and you aren't doing nanowrimo

It's a fun challenge to do with a community but it doesn't work for everyone's brain

Certainly not mine!

I've written 5 books and I'm working on editing my finished 175K WIP Rules for Superheroes, but I've never done nanowrimo

I have tried and failed horribly

In fact, that's usually the time of year I'm the least prolific! I think it's the changing of the seasons. Who's to say?

I am the queen of writing at my own pace. I have learned not to stress when I've had a bad couple weeks. The inner author will return. The crave to write will return. It just ebbs and flows. Forcing it with a big challenge like nanowrimo hasn't been successful for me personally 🤷‍♀️ it might be for you!

But certainly take advantage of this time to get inspired by everyone else's creativity. Build your community. Reach out to authors trying the challenge. Get plugged in!

That's how writing is, too! You don't need to finish the book right now. Taking it incrementally means that you'll be able to grow with it over time.
