As I think more on the fact that people get called cringe and bullied for not being hot enough to pull their fav. Which is obviously stupid and shouldn't be listened to, bitter people on the internet hold no real hold over you and shouldn't.
It got me thinking. Because sometimes within ourselves it can feel like we're being too much. We pretend to be hotter than we are. Or we're acting like we're more desirable than we are. At least in insecure moments we can feel this way. And I think that's bullshit but obviously we all have down moments its completely normal we are only human.
But I also think assuming a favorite character could only like somebody because their a super model is not only harmful to ourselves. But it's completely not fair to judge them either. If I said "my best friend only likes hot people if somebody is ugly they won't like them." That's not only very cruel but also is a direct attack and dig at my friend. Labeling them as a mean person and putting them in an unfair light. Of course fictional characters can't speak up for themselves but I doubt a good portion of them would say "I think this person is too ugly for me." If they did and were that kind of person we wouldn't like them as much.
You love your fav because of who they are and also because of their looks maybe. And I don't think we'd look at our favs and say "Yeah they only see the physical attributes in people and that's all they care about romantically." Of course not!!
Even for villains and mean characters that's a pretty big stretch. We wouldn't say that about friends or ourselves. Or characters we love and admire.
Beyond the fact that strangers on the internet just trying to hurt feelings to feel something in their own lives. Bullies hold no real logic except their own misguided bias. It is not a crime to think we are the most drop gorgeous thing alive. Especially in a way that is done for self love and catharsis. But these characters are not that shallow.
Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of that. It's just like how so many terrible people shame celebrities for having "not as hot" spouses when their models. Who fucking cares. They love them enough to marry have kids and parade them around for the whole world to see. Even with peoples cruel opinions they don't matter at all it doesn't affect their love. You don't have to be a supermodel to be worthy of love. And physical looks aren't the only things people love.
And even beyond ALL THAT. Your imperfections CAN be seen as attractive. Something you see as "wrong" somebody else will adore. So many aspects of what my boyfriend dislikes about himself I adore I don't see as a flaw. And he sees me the same way.
All this to say. You ARE hot enough to pull your fav. But most importantly we need to see ourselves with kindness and get out of our heads with insecurities. The world and others are much kinder than we think. And your fav absolutely adores you
