Command Sisters - Steal Your Heart (Lyric Video)
Free Falling - Tom Petty (Command Sisters cover)
May 9th ♥ first blog, and first week of summer!
Okay okay, I know what you're thinking. Schools not even out yet, and its only May! But when the suns been hot, $1 drinks are back, and you get a massive sunburn the first day.. its summer enough for me!
Sooo many random/embarrassing/awesome things has happened this week. Literally. I don't really even know where to start! I guess i'll begin with the first day: last Monday.
____ Day One ♥
On Monday morning Charlotte & I were filming a "bully prevention" video at a local high school! When I say local, I mean it. Its literally as local as it gets! I can see the high school from my house, and I basically know almost half of the people that go there.
At first when I found out we were filming there, I was pretty excited. But when it came to the morning of the video, I was soo nervous. Theres something about randomly showing up at a friends school, singing with your guitars, with a huge film crew thats kind of awkward for me. Especially when you don't even go there.
*insert awkward face here*
But as the filming dudes started to set up, I began to notice it was pretty quiet, and we got to meet the actresses that were being apart of the video, the nerves kind of went away! Until I go make everything so much more awkward and embarrassing, as usual...
my awkward story: Of course, I usually have no idea whats going on.. and there ended up being two film crews filming two completely different videos.
1.) the guys filming the bully prevention vid
2.) guys from CBC that are filming a documentary on Canadian artists, and we were one of them!
So the CBC guys goal was basically to film the other film guys filming us.. confusing I know. Oh and add in some personal stuff about our lives, Charlotte and I hanging out at the set, and to preform a song or two. It was basically like a mini reality tv show!! I felt kinda like I was on Real Housewives of Orange County.. what? Not a good example.. ahaha
Anywaays.. they had to hook us up with mics that would go on our shirts so they could hear what we said. Literally, everything we said. Of course I didn't notice until later that the 'sound guy' had ear buds in his ears the ENTIRE time, listening to us to make sure the mics were working. But by the end of the day, he probably knew us a lot better.. or me a lot better hahaha.
I don't want to post exactly everything I said.. because its my first blog! And to confess everything would kind of be lame, wouldn't it? All I can say is all of the "super close girl talk" (you know the kind) between my sister and I was completely recorded and listened to..
You know.. hair problems, random over excited rants about personal stuff, makeup talk in the washroom, talks about a certain crush of mine.. all of it. ALL recorded. Every single freaking thing !! When I realized what had just happened, I couldn't even look anyone in the eye, or the sound guy. Lets just hope all of that gets cut! haha :)
_____ Day 2, and conquering my fears ♥
I'm just about to take advantage of the sun and go longboarding, so i'll quickly finish this up!
The next day Charlotte had to get her wisdom teeth removed, but of course that SAME night we had a show. Not just a normal show, a show for the mayor. Charlotte told me the week before, "I'll totally be able to sing that night. I'll be fine" so I believed it.
But when she came home drugged out looking like a chipmunk, I knew right then and there that it was going to be a solo act preforming that night.. me!!
I've never preformed alone before. I was so scared. I'm so used to having my sister there to harmonize to, and to solo to! But being on my own was a whole different thing.
But I was willing to do it for my sister. I didn't even know what songs to sing! I only had to do three, but it was still pretty hard. I ended up doing an instrumental guitar piece, and my favourite Brad Paisley song: This Is Country Music. (I knew that there was noo way I would forget the lyrics to a Brad Paisley song hahaha).
But I still had to decide on one more song. There was a song I wrote back in December.. I never played it for anybody, because I was kind of embarrassed. But it was the only song I was comfortable playing in public, with such short notice.
I didn't even tell my parents until I played it. I was surprised by the reaction I got, and the show ended up going really well! Not gunna lie, I was a nervous wreck the hour before the show. But I ended up conquering my fears!
_____ Final lesson I learned ♥
I got through a video I was nervous to film, talked to somebody I thought I wouldn't talk to haha, signed up for high school :D, did a show I thought I couldn't do on my own, and preformed an original song I hid for five months! Things I never thought I would be able to do the week before.
Hate to sound super cliche, but I really learned a lot this week. I learned to not be afraid to try something new, and you never know what could happen unless you try!
Well I should go! Vlog comin this Sunday, blog or message me back any video ideas!
ttyl, Sarah ♥
