Absolute Terror

You know what’s one of the creepier things Scarecrow’s done in the comics? He used to talk into the vents at Arkham to his cellmates, and he didn’t talk about the whether, oh no he talked about how he was going to murder them.

These cellmates were his bullies in Arkham, and they pretty much pegged Jonathan as a weakling, which is not wrong up to a point, but it was a bad assumption to have.

Here’s a quote from batman: Absolute Terror, the story in question

“I just used the vents to have a conversation with those two men…those two small men. I talked to them about who are are, about the things they’ve done. About the things I’m going to do to their families if they continue to bully me.”

HE USED HIS WORDS. and he scared these big bad criminals with nothing else! He was so scary, rogues such as Ivy and King Shark begged Batman to find him and catch him (after he escaped) but NOT bring him back to Arkham!

This story roves one thing, Jonathan does NOT need his toxin. It’s a tool, one of MANY that he can and has used. In this story he terrorizes the whole city, building dozens off fake scarecrows around town and murdering innocent people. It’s a really scary story, one of his best.

Even when confronted with Batman and Robin

the end though, its what gets me. When the doctors try to heal his wounds from scuffle with the dark knight and his ward, he begs them not to use the “gas” in a half conscious state, the doctors don’t listen of course--but scarecrows knows he doesn’t need it and that always pulls at the heart strings.
