A friend of mine posted something on our batch facebook group. I thought it was just some ol’ stat or 9gag post (no offense to 9gaggers out there). But I clicked away anyway. Turned out I was wrong. It wasn’t the usual posts-to-entertain. They, as it doesn’t seem to happen often, were surprisingly useful.
Links of the courses we’re allowed to choose from and the UP Campuses and their available courses were what I found myself staring at.
At first I was like, “Oh gosh, why did you have to remind me?”. I then remembered I was gonna be applying for college a few months from now. So I asked the poster(the one who posted:P) if he already thought of his courses. He had options already, but had no first choice yet. So we thought over other courses we could add to our list (but mine’s empty ‘till now).
We’ve been told of alumnae who have shifted courses, thus have broken The Contract. And they are currently happy with their choice. That made us consider “secretive shifting”, as he called it. ‘Coz we all know, the older ones serve as our examples. Well, maybe that can’t be helped, especially that we’re not exactly on the science-y side.
Friend: Nung nagsign tayo ng contract, BS na talaga ang pangako natin sa school… xDD
Me: I don’t believe in contracts, just like how I don’t believe in promises. ‘Coz a contract is just the formal and paper-and-penned version of promises.
And I realized what I just typed. Dayum. What was that all about? That was like, almost unconnected to what we were talking about.
But I guess it really voiced out my inner thoughts. Huh. By now, think you get what I’m planning to do?
We’ve got no monaaaks for paying the school if I chose a course we’re not approved to take. I don’t want to add up to my parents’ problems.
Maybe I’ll get a stable job first, then do the things I want to do. Aside from memorizing and observing and calculating things I need to.
Even if it wasn’t the choice I originally wanted, who knows? I might get to discover that I’m loving what I’m doing a few years from now.
