Well that was highly unexpected. “Ah- y- yes?”
“Does that mean you’re interested?” Ryuuji runs a hand through his bangs. He smirks - just a little. “We should probably get to know each other a little first, though.”

THIS STARTER IS: Open
"Tch. Of course."
Thunder rolls overhead as the last lights in the café flicker off for the night. Rain has been coming down for a while now - since this afternoon, when things inside ground to a halt. The downpour has kept most people from venturing out, and he was able to get all of the closing routines done long before now. He's just been killing time. Hoping that it would stop. But, apparently, that wasn't quite enough to tame nature. And he hadn't thought to bring an umbrella to work. Of course.
He's gonna have to book it to the bus stop to try and make it home.
He steels himself as he shutters up the front of the shop and locks the door behind him. Lightning flashes. He tightens his grip on his bag, sighs, and starts running.
The pavement under his feet isn't slick, at least, but he's soaked through in less time than he'd hoped. His lack of jacket probably isn't helping. He's breathing heavy by the time he makes it to his last turn - only a couple more blocks to go.
As he makes that turn, though, he loses his footing a little. Wobbles just enough that he isn't able to stop himself when he sees a shape in front of him. He feels the collision before it registers, and in a split second, his bag is on the ground, slipped right off his shoulder. A few dice spill across the sidewalk and he can't help but to groan. At least his cards didn't fall out - they'd have been ruined immediately.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"

“Mm...” Mokuba hummed in acknowledgement, biting back the ‘but’ that wanted to leap off his tongue right after Otogi finished speaking.
He instead paused, trying to find a way to stitch together his sentiment carefully.
“I get that, I wouldn’t want every part of life planned out on a spreadsheet. But some kind of general plan would be... kind nice? So it didn’t just feel like flying by the seat of your pants all the time? Ya’know what I mean?”
There definitely is some security in having a little bit of a plan. Ryuuji understands this well. You know how things are going to go, so there’s no room to be anxious. Things are accounted for.
For most of his childhood, he had a plan. But it wasn’t his plan. Wasn’t anything close to what he wanted for himself. Sometimes his father still brings it up. He tries not to let this annoy him at present, though. The younger Kaiba brother’s life has been dramatically different than his own, he would assume.
“Yeah, I get you.” He finds himself fiddling with his earring absently. “The thrill of running headfirst into the future without thinking about what happens next, though... I like it. You get to live on your own terms, without needing anyone’s approval.”

"Such a pretty thing like you wandering into my midst. How interesting of a deal, you have there. I'll bite, roll the die and we shall see who wins this. If you win you get the crystal. If I win you will lose your soul to the shadows." His voice sounded far too demonic to even be the spirit of the Ring anymore. He sounds so cold, so distant and not even the amount of mocking or gusto the other would seem to have when placing bets.
If he wins Duke better destroy this foul device before it ends up in the hands of another person who could lose their mind our soul to it. The dark magic radiating off of it is enough to swallow any light that comes to close to it.
The compliment almost breaks his focus. As menacing as it is, he still enjoys praise. The only thing that keeps him in check is the way that it’s said.
Bakura’s voice is twisted somehow, in a way that’s hard to describe. The sound of it sends chills down Ryuuji’s spine, makes his skin crawl. Somehow, despite having seen wild and horrifying things, this slim, white-haired man is the most terrifying presence he’s encountered.
Hoo, boy.
“We have a wager, then.”
He tosses the die in the air, catches it.
He’s done test rolls with this one before. The results have been mixed: 4, 16, 10. His last roll before this... was a 1. But that doesn’t mean he won’t get something good this time... probably.
“Let’s saaaay... fifteen or over. That’s a flat thirty percent chance for me, a seventy percent chance for you. Fits the stakes, I think.”

Kaiba slowly dragged his eyes up to look at Otogi with an exasperated look before making a vague gesture at the dice he just rolled.
“Sure, if by ‘fun’ you mean this makes me want to rip my hair out. This is why I don’t like luck cards in Duel Monsters.”
Bad roll? Very bad roll. He didn’t want to dwell on it.
“The grisly results is disproportionately occurring to me. Karma had better catch up to you.”
Ryuuji can’t help the grin that graces his face.
Something about toying with the sour billionaire is just too fun. He hasn’t really gotten the chance to do so before - there have always been bigger things going on when they’re in a room together. The fact that he’d gotten this get-together scheduled at all was a miracle.
And so very worth it.
“Oh, I don’t think so. Lady Luck has always been kind to me.” He twirls a strand of hair around his index finger. “What can I say? I guess I’m just that good.”
With his free hand, he picks up three more dice, and then tosses them at the table. Two level two summons! And he still has plenty of space.
He dimensions Dark Eye Stalker, and looks back to Seto.
“C’mon, Kaiba. You’re like the second best duelist in the world or something, right?” He smirks. “I know you can give me a challenge.”

Atem had pushed it during one of his routines. He apparently collapsed shortly after getting back from work.
"Ah..." The Pharaoh glanced around. "Where are we?"
“You okay, man?”
Ryuuji’s brow is already furrowed with concern as he kneels down to get a better look at the man on the ground. His limbs move without him thinking about it, reaching out to steady his companion.
“Uh...” He glances up briefly, before his eyes refocus on the spikey hair in front of him. “Don’t know if this doorstep belongs to you? I was just passing by and happened to spot you passed out on the ground. That was really lucky.”
After he’s relatively sure his charge is steady, he turns his attention to his bag. He’d only brought a small one today, but had managed to squeeze in a bottle of water. He doesn’t have to search for very long before pulling it out to offer up.
“Here! If you need it. Do you remember what happened?”

“Then you should definitely find a way to get me to stay, then.” She wasn’t all that impressed with what he had to offer so far, but if he could convince her then maybe she’d stay.
“I’d say the thrill of the game should be enough to keep you interested, but I guess we differ there.”
Ryuuji smiles regardless, leaning back in his chair to survey the situation. The game itself may not be appealing to her, but they could spice it up a little.
“If you like, we could have a little wager...”
But what should the prize be? Money? He doesn’t have much cash in his wallet - he carries card, mostly. Some sort of prize? His pockets are empty. Favors, he could do...
“Just depends on what you want to get out of it.”
