just fucking rots me how much sympathy people here have for clavicular. like tumblr users will scroll past genocide victims, abused teens, Black trans women raising money to stay housed, turn their back on these people and call them scammers, yet suddenly they shed tears for a fucking neo nazi?

am i supposed to feel bad because he has body dysmorphia? am i supposed to see him as the most tragic victim of the beauty standards that people like him conform to and reinforce? he literally makes his career out of mistreating anybody who doesn't look like him. you think it's so hard being in his body? he couldn't handle a single day being a woman, a mobility aid user, a homeless person, racialised, fat, queer, trans, anything outside of the peak of privilege where he sits.

i know many people who struggle with addiction and body image, and they don't become massive bigots about it. i have no sympathy for this man, he caused all his own problems

The worst part about reading The Hands of the Emperor is that I can’t show funny bits to friends who haven’t read it because the slow build of information is so rewarding, but it would spoil it to explain the background that got us to the, “I wrote this law and you’re trying to lie to me about what it says.” I did send the Agatha Christie references to friends. Those don’t require background.

On the bright side, it’s extremely good. I need a physical copy to annotate properly. The summary didn’t really catch my attention but it’s hard to explain the actual complete premise of the book without providing too much context.
