remember i said i wanted to talk about ap x cbs but didn't know anything about freak fortress? did some reasearch andddd i understood nothing :D so here's a silly concept i thought because i was reading the wikis while listening to corpse party and chainsawman music.

cw: mentions of death, torture, religious stuff and no sex ok.

additional: cps = christian pure spy; cbs = christian brutal sniper; ap = ass pancakes

the "freaks" that appear are both hellborns and tortured souls, but not from people that have been in hell, but those that got to wander on earth eternally. idk, but i remember hearing in my catholic primary school that the souls that stay nearby the sea will slowly turn evil. so yeah, that for some freaks.

i think the primary difference is hellborns won't possess much empathy, since they've been taught to torture and kill condemned souls over and over again, whereas tortured souls could be empathetic, but this is hard as most of the time a soul in such state happens because something is tying them to earth—let's say grudge, sadness, etc.

in this universe, freaks began to manifest hostilely on earth after a breakage in hell, allowing hellborns to walk around earth and influence the tortured souls to just kill people, no other motivation than to bring pain as hellborns enjoy it and tortured souls probably hold anger towards society in general.

now, cbs was killed during this period of rapture but by normal men and while his consciousness wandered somewhere, karma soldier (a benign angelic creature) manifests, telling cbs that he could live again and manage to go to heaven if he helps humans during this rapture but since frustration and revenge desires consumed him, it's like holy powers couldn't exactly adhere to him unlike (a future character we will see :D) cps. that's when to the convo, lord degroot (an identity from hell) appears, offering to give cbs powers in exchange of, regardless who he kills, cbs still goes to heaven.

karma soldier doubts, he knows lord degroot wants heaven to be a laughing stock.

"why would you want this man to kill your brothers?"

"you don't know how hard it is to adjust to such an increasing quota of death sinners, dude. y'all party there, but in hell we have to work."

fair enough.

after that, karma soldier tells cbs to find cps, who has both angelic powers and gadgets that will help him.

then cbs wakes up over his tomb and goes to buy some cigarettes, hearing the store owner complain how they still have to work despite the danger. he wonders for a second about why actual archangels don't do the work but then just keeps on smoking.

here teufort is a big city so he has to take a taxi to go to the church. halfway, a freak appears and cbs is like "oh god, do I have to work now?" he gets out of the car and this first freak issss ap!

"i am ass pancakes and I'm going to bonk you"

"wait, is that really your name?"

and then they fight. surprisingly, cbs manages to win temporarily and ap decides to leave by entering his bonk soda and throwing himself to a sewer.

when he meets cps, it's all very awkward cuz it's basically a conversation between an atheist-turned-to-agnostic-still-doubting and a christian father who may despise him a little since he has hell powers lol.

then cbs goes: "I got attacked by one of those freaks when coming"

"don't call them like that, some of those are just poor tortured souls."

"whatever. is there any chance the father's temple is safe?"

"yeah, it's safer for them to be away from here."

so yeah, they mostly plan their tactics there.

that's the overall concept, I'm sorry if it's kind of meh but now going with ap...

since ap can be friendly sometimes, i think he is a tortured soul. here are my specific headcanons regarding that:

• he was killed with a hammer which caused iridodialysis on him and that's why his eyes are like that.

• he is pale and has those eyebags too because he was tortured beforehand for a couple of days so he was basically anemic by the time he got killed.

• his "name" is probably ass pancakes cuz it's something one of the killers must have said repeatedly during his captivity. mostly as an actual sentence, but he just remembers those two words for now, so he just made it his name.

anyways, ap is filled with the thrill of killing as his case specifically happened because of insufficiency from the law and society overall but this is only like a "root" (his brain not only preserved some of the damage of the trauma from the hammer but also kind of erases some aspects of his death to "protect" him from depressive insanity, so he is just manic), he also simply enjoys it as he feels like he is in power since he gets to kill people with an ever bigger hammer!

and, again, as you may see, if you're hostile to ap, he will be even worse, mostly because it triggers something in him that comes from the way his captors were (obviously) hostile towards him.

i view him as that final boss from the first part of a manga, he is a recurring figure in the story and as it goes, between fights, cps and cbs learn more about him —mostly because ap says it or exhibits it— and have a discussion about him.

"told you there were tortured souls."

"he almost murdered us! either way, how are you so sure?"

"tortured souls were humans, so they have triggering moments. did you notice how he didn't kill that woman?"

// in this context, it was a woman who asked him for mercy as her kid did have no one else to take care of them.

"i hate it when you're right."

"we could try to soothe him and then join us, it'll be better to have more people on our side."

well, then at the ending of this supposed manga's arc 1, ap is defeated by both as they managed to capture his bonk can (before he could return to it) and put it in the "holy box" (a crystal box that inhibits the unholy powers of possessed objects). without the can, ap has to recover from his wounds like a "normal person" and he cannot bring out his hammer.

that's when cbs stands in front of him and tells him: "your mother is dead, I'm sure you know that."

"mom?"

"she's in heaven, so don't worry" cps adds, trying to calm him.

"of course."

"but you won't be if i kill you right now. so listen, ap, your kind are causing a whole mess in humanity and on both heaven and hell and has ruined my sleep schedule."

"so you have two options: join us and help us either return or finish the other freaks and maybe we can convince karma soldier to let you go with your mother or i kill you now and that's where it ends."

ap manages to do 2+2, noticing that his wounds could be treated and realized cbs was being honest. so he accepted.

now, the yaoi here is weird cuz they have mixed feelings about each other. cbs actually happens to be nice to ap, despite not being so trusting of him, buying him sweet food and talking with him during the early morning, cbs actually learns more about him than he could've ever spotted in old newspapers about his murder.

however, he is confused about everything since ap literally ruined a shitton of lives by murder or collateral damage. he isn't a pure soul nor a perfect victim, so cbs is just like "do I feel like this just because I wasn't affected?". this kind of affects his job afterwards, as he becomes more hyperaware of everything.

and ap, on the other hand, is lovelorn but ofc he is not mentally stable for this connection to be normal. he is too jealous for anyone's good. in fact, he despises cps, he hates that cbs reaches to him when he needs important stuff and kind of envies him as cps is actually "normal", which kind of makes him go in the following two states:

thinking "KILLHIMKILLHIMKILLHIMKILLHIMKILLHIMKILLHIMKILLHIM" as he intensely stares at cps while he talks.

"I should be like him, right? Right? That way cbs wouldn't doubt me ever again and-"

but it's funny cause cps feels paternal about him. at the end of the day, ap is just a young man who suffered a horrible fate and, if it were possible, he'd do anything for ap to be accepted into heaven. this also makes him a bit biased, because he hadn't come to think that ap's victims in heaven would probably not like spotting him, lmao.

and well, that's all for now, my brain has been squeezed to the last drop for this to be written. hope y'all get the vision.
