"D'ores et déjà", Gold and Jade & Amon

(or how my brain gave me a vision right before sleeping and my need to share it with the world)

D'ores et déjà /dɔʁ.z‿e de.ʒa/ is an old school french expression. It's made of ores /ɔʁ/ which meant "now" (-> old form of or /ɔʁ/ from the latin hac hora meaning "at this time") and déjà /de.ʒa/ itself formed of dès /de/ (since, as soon as, immediatly depending on the context) and jà /ʒa/ (old french for formerly/previously or used once the "until now" criteria is met)

The expression means now, with a persistance and insistance added with déjà. It could be translated as "from now on" or "as of now".

The thought that crawled in my mind before sleep was that d'ores et déjà was phonetically very close to d'or et de jade /dɔʁ‿e də ʒad/ (which is not a real saying, it could mean "made of gold and jade") which could fit Amon's dynamic quite well.

Amon are both stuck in the past, in different ways. One hasn't been able to move on from it, the other is digging it up incessantly. They are linked to the other; especially since the end of season 1, by loss and grief.

Ores instills a notion of now, of the start of an action and the closing of the last one. Associating it to Anton, who is pretty known for his single focus, inability to go forwards and open a new chapter of his life by hanging on the last one, can make sense. Adding to it, or (gold), his eye color. Also known to be noble, a symbol of power and wealth while also being one of the most malleable metal on its own. Like Anton's moral compass without Olezha pointing it in the right direction.

Dmitri would make sense first as déjà in its original meanings (before/formerly and already) as his relationship with the Douchnov siblings makes him focus on an unfixable past. Secondly, like the words role in the expression, Dmitri is persistant as it's showed thoroughly in the show, being borderline obtuse at time. Also jade is a stone known to be tenacious as well as similar in colors to Dmitri's eyes.

In conclusion, my brain told me an expression kinda sounded like two precious materials and that I could make it about Amon so I did. In my opinion, if I think about Amon and how they would be together; they would need to have d'ores et déjà moved on from whatever hold them back to fully appreciate each other but it's not as if I'm looking at them for healthy relationship.

When Marty first meets Doc in 1955, he shows Doc the picture of himself with his siblings to prove he's from the future and the picture looks like this:

Doc takes a look at it and replies:

Meaning, he doesn't believe it's a real picture and thinks it was actually tempered with. However, and this is what I love about the movie, we get a look at how Marty interferring with his parents' meeting already takes an effect on his and his siblings' existence. Mainly, his brother starts vanishing from the picture before we, the viewers, get an explanation as to how bad Marty meeting his parents actually is.

Yes, Doc explains it a few minutes later and even asks to see the picture again but in that moment, neither Doc and Marty nor we know Doc doesn't just make an off-handed remark about the picture being fake. Marty already stopped his mum and dad meeting in front of his grandparents' house and it already has an effect even if we don't understand the consequences yet.

Then, a few scenes later, Marty and Doc got the DeLorean back to Doc's garage, Doc freaked out about somehow generating 1.21 gigawatts of electricity, they realise their solution is that bolt of lightning next Saturday and then Doc finds out about Marty meeting his parents and it finally dawns upon them and us that Marty did a big oopsie and is about to erase the existence of himself and his siblings. Doc asks to see the picture again and this time he knows it's not tempered with but his brother already started vanishing from existence.

Before that, that first scene doesn't seem that relevant or even important but now? Oops, Dave's hair wasn't just cut off, it just didn't exist! Haha, Marty, you silly boy.

Kyoshi has a knack for making her past selves feel like like shit TT0TT

Kyoshi with Kuruk, first meeting:

I NEED to see Kyoshi interacting with the other Avatar's that came before Yangchen. Because like, she's 2 for 2 acting like the other is just a scourge on her life. TT0TT (she turns it around by the end of it but still).

But like, I got to the Yangchen thing again and OHHHHH MY GOD FKLDJASLKFJAFJ I know I focus on the "Mommy Yangchen" and how sweet the moment is that she comforts Kyoshi...... and how she's usually ripping into Kuruk but........jaskldfj;akf

Just....Kyoshi's reaction at the beginning is like????? Yangchen HAD to have thought Kyoshi hated her. The way she was acting was about as bad as Kuruk, even if it was said in fewer words. She literally didn't want to be near them! TT0TT

Like Yangchen pops into existence and Kyoshi's first reaction to seeing her was:

Like I just KNOW Yangchen was going through it. She must've been like "My actions lead to Kuruk's early death, and now Kyoshi hates me too???? Oh fucking christ I know I deserve this but please tell me what I did wrong first TT0TT I know she hated Kuruk but she seemed to hold me in high regard, did something happen? Is that it? What is it child what?"

UGH I need to know how she reacts to Szeto. Is it just "Oh? Kyoshi? Yeah it was a fine meeting why?" djksaljfajf Kuruk and YC would be SO LIVID PLEASE!

Oh fuck, what if she freaks when she sees Roku and is like "Rangi???????????????????" Oh please let their meeting be a disaster actually that would be SUCH a blessing you have no idea TT0TT

The crew are given flower bracelets. What will they do with them?

Kirk leaves it on the table next to the fruit. Either he will smell the flowers later... or he's gonna eat them.

Spock removes the bracelet, but keeps it (possibly to scientifically study it later).

McCoy keeps wearing the thing the whole time because it makes him feel like a princess.

Chekov and the redshirt probably are too distracted to notice they have them at all.

Anon, the short answer is: Otome fans are weak to gravity defying hair.

LOL jokes aside, I believe it's a physical trait considered attractive by fans of the anime, manga (and the like) genre.

I think we've all noticed the origin of these "beautiful" characters extends way, way back and we've all had our fair share of crushes on them. I mean, look at these idiots with their physics defying hair many of us adored, as children:

And it's not just otome, anime or manga. You see this trope bleed into Asian dramas as well.

Honestly, Hanazawa Rui can get it. I remember being particularly fond of his Prince Charming-esque demeanour (and bangs)

Kame very much remains an obscure crush with that characteristic 2005-ish (or older) hairstyling.

Chiaki's chiseled jaw and cheekbones could slice a hoe down and she'd thank him. The hair is a wonderful bonus on an equally wonderful man.

Korea (among other Asian countries) seems to follow this trend as well:

The things I'd like to do to Chang Min on a hospital bed cannot be spoken out loud.

And we all willingly stuff these men (and their beauty) down our gullets too. Hair=50% attractiveness (?) LOL

It seems to be a thing, doesn't it? For instance, did you know Chinese women used to bind their feet tight in cloth in order to stunt their growth? Tiny feet are/were considered attractive on a woman. [I'm not sure on the source but I think it was one of my textbooks in high school.]

To sum it all up: Bangs and fringes on otome men are attractive and—

We'd all love to smooch these men with The Hair™️

However, the internet particularly seems obsessed with (1) man nowadays.

Are we finally stepping out of the bangs obsession? 🤣 Unless you count Daisuke's fringes too

Ice Ado Analysis

(Don’t take this analysis seriously btw)

So I’ve speculated plenty on Ice Ado already, but one thing that still stands out to me that I’ve mentioned before is the sheer difference in tone between the two trailers.

Other than the music, the biggest change is the colour scheme:

The initial teaser trailer on the snowy beach is all in shades of blue: The water is blue, the snow is tinged blue. Even Viktor’s scarf is blue and of course the movie logo is in blue.

Skip forward to the next teaser and the text is red and the logo changes from blue to red.

So what do these colours mean? Let’s look at the amazing site that is tv tropes.

According to tv tropes, blue is most commonly associated with deep emotions, particularly sadness, indeed the Blue Tropes page makes sure to include a link to sadness tropes. A skim at the tropes below also hints at how blue can relate to our protagonist. Most of these are self-explanatory, but it’s helpful to look at them together (and yes I’m copypasta-ing these particular tropes directly from tv tropes):

Blue Is Heroic: The color blue associated with heroes.

Blue Means Cold: The color blue associated with cold or freezing temperatures. 

Heavenly Blue: The color blue associated with the heavens and other heavenly things like angels.

Icy Blue Eyes: Pale blue eyes representing coolness or coldness, in personality, in nature, or both.

Innocent Blue Eyes: Blue eyes symbolizing innocence.

So yeah, for Viktor it seems blue would tend to indicate sadness, coldness and perhaps innocence. None of these make blue seen like a particularly nice colour to have as a motif.

Now on to Red Tropes:

Unsurprisingly red is associated with blood, danger, passion, fire, power, love and many other things. I think it’s safe to rule out love here, at least the romantic love that red would indicate (I doubt Kubo-sensei would give us a love story featuring teen Viktor and an ex), so lets have a look for red tropes that could relate to Viktor:

High-Pressure Emotion: When strong emotions make a character's head act like a teakettle.

Red Is Heroic: The color red associated with heroes.

So yeah, there’s not that much there, is there? Unless Viktor goes into a hulk rage at some point during the movie (I personally think a visibly angry Viktor would be horrible but morbidly interesting sight to see...). Blue definitely seems to be more fitting for his character.

TV tropes (you can tell I like this site a lot) also highlights however that in the anime, Viktor’s theme colours can be depicted as red or purple to Yuuri’s blue and Yurio’s yellow. It’s worth noting that red and blue together make purple...so what tropes focus on blue and red together?

Well only one jumps out:

Red Pill, Blue Pill: Choosing either an adventure or a more normal life.

Interesting.

So could we read it from this that at the start of Ice Adolescence that Viktor is going to come from a cold, innocent and ultimately sad place, before having something happen to him that makes him decide to go forward into the sport and chose adventure over a normal life? The blue pill is normal life (remaining plugged into the matrix for the trope’s named example), but the red pill is the adventure. Does Viktor contemplate quitting, drawn to the mundane safety of normal life, or is he forced into making a choice? Maybe through injury or unknown personal circumstance?

With Viktor’s anime theme colour being the purple to Yuuri’s blue, do any of the purple tropes offer any further insight:

Well, according to tv tropes purple is fittingly associated with the deepest of human emotions and:

Purple Is Powerful: Purple is used to represent power and badassery. 

Could we therefore put these theme colours into narrative for Viktor? I guess we can:

He starts off as blue - sad for some reason, lonely, out in the cold with only Makkachin for companionship

When he’s 17 there’s something unknown that acts a catalyst that chases away the sad blue and sees him transform in some way, perhaps casting off something that’s held him back, and this transforms him into the champion we’ll come to know. Although his colour is now red, he still has issues to reconcile, like his loneliness.

Finally in the anime he meets Yuuri and is able to reconcile every part of himself and resolve his loneliness as he teaches Yuuri about Eros and is in turned taught about Agape, thus his colour becomes purple.

another silly analysis

woah GD seems scary here, he is like get out, like he is protecting his time with bigbang hehehe but he was just joking but still his expression...

grrr at first I was like "what!!" bad Ji flirting in front of seungri, I would have loved to see Seungri's face

but then hope, Ji turned him down, saying "we are not compatible" yesss

ohh a jealous seungri it's weird to catch him jealous, he is like yeah yeah now get out, he is showing him the exit! like get away from Ji, oh panda

In fact Ji,taeyang and daesung were showing off seungri, saying things like Seungri is really good singing acapella, and pushing him to sing, really proud hyungs (hahaha Top I think was really tired, he looked like he was falling sleep)

Seungri again jealous? I mean everyone is checking the dancers but seungri then turns to watch Ji, maybe he was feeling insecure?

Taeyang and Ji wanted Seungri to dance, wow they really wanted the younger generation to watch how good he is. or maybe they just wanted to see those hips move hehehe I mean I would

who is enjoying more the show? of course Ji can't take his eyes off him

oh but Seungri has someone who is very compatible with him too, He was all shy when he took him his lunch aww , and when they say that seunghoon  here had a rival I though "omg it must be GD" hahaha but no, it turned to be taehyun

now it's Ji turn to be jealous, when  Seungri said "so you are going to marry me and then date top?" and that was too much for GD, he was like enough move away, and sit next to top. ohh protective Ji, he had enough I mean not one but two boys were compatible with Ri.

  now just casually GD changed spots, it seemed like he didn't want anyone else getting close to Seungri, I mean his position just...I don't know

Daeung was the one here getting rejected so why is Seungri touching Ji?  it would seem as if he is calming him down with all that happened before.

alright so I didn't find many videos of seungri with others, I mean there are videos of GDhyunseung, GDdara, gdciel, gdon, gdwithachair, I mean seungri has the reputation of being a womanizer but 

here he seems almost cold and it looks as if the girls are the ones reaching out to him, he is like ok yeah whatever or maybe he is shy? hahaha 

again he looks bored and they are trying to chat him up, one of them asks him to show her one dance or something because later he gets up and lazily moves, shouldn't he be all over them and flirting, or is that just an image he puts up? I mean they are pretty

he seems to have more fun with the camera guy and more at ease than with the girls

So yes, this concludes that Seungri is really liked by other people, maybe even flirted with, but the strange thing is that there are more videos of GD related with women, and less videos of seungri with women (except for that scandal) , so who is the womanizer here?  maybe GD is really possessive of seungri and he is more bothered of seungri around women, and for what I see Seungri sometimes is awkward with girls
