How I feel about this character
i fucking love Laurence bloodborne. He's such a cunt but in a very very compelling sorta way yknow. There's so little we know about his personality too, we only know the void he left behind him, and that in of itself is compelling but also i get to make up a guy which is my favouriiite. We do know he's apprehensive about the hunt and also a violent dictator which is soooo fun to play with because it feels like they should be contridictory. Love a guy who does mental gymnastics to justify his own attrocious actions :]

That's half a joke. I can see pretty much any romantic ship with Laurence working because he impacts every major character's lives immensely. So even though i only really view him as being romantic with Gehrman and maaaybe Brador (even then it's under layers of repression so they don't really get anywhere) I can see where basically any romantic reading comes from. It's good. Poly King.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I have three!! Actually!! Ludwig, Caryll and Maria all have such facinating dynamics with Laurence in a toxic friendship sorta way and I love love love thinking about them. With Ludwig I love the angle of Ludwig trusting his friend to such an extent that he becomes a facist for him. With Caryll it's watching your respective peer and brother deteriorate before your eyes, before your gods. And with Maria it's someone you trust and have repor with waiting for you to die so they can massacre your people for politcal gain. It's good.
My unpopular opinion about this character
He's Bloodletting Beast. And also VERY violent. I think he's a masterful shooter and basically the reason Church hunters carry poison knives in their sleeves. He has assassins to make you think he can't hold his own in a fight but he definatly can. I've been meaning to write a fic where he slits the old mayor's throat and enjoys it probably a little bit too much.
Also he's fat not sorry. And very pretty :]]
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I WISH they had more time to work on his bossfight. The DLC was very rushed and we can tell from game data that the Laurence we fight in game wasn't meant to be him initially. I wish they had more time to flesh that moment out and didn't have to resort to a boss reskin that they already had done. Also that they kept that flashback with Gehrman in it's like where half my interpretion of him comes from I wish it was cannon.

Don't worry, not annoying at all! :^) I use pretty much only Clip Studio Paint when I draw digitally (but I'm about to get an ipad to draw on soon so I'll probably start using procreate much more from then on, haha!). For most of my doodles & drawings with lineart I use the calligraphy brush. For my drawings with a more "painterly" style I use a whole bunch of different "india ink"-brushes, plus some free ones I downloaded long ago, haha!

I love it in general when people explore Simon's character. It's his desire for justice against the church that really does it for me. Did he have family affected by the blood? His hatred for guns, did that stem from hunters and their violence? And knowing Yharnam hates foreigners, and Simon being the most Arab looking character I've seen in Fromsoft, that certainly plays a key role doesn't it? And the introspection....
And you already know what I don't like people writing regarding Simon, specifically involving Brador :(

Tumblr user Skleech you have unleashed Hell's gates, here is my bullet point essay on why Brador is my favorite (or second favorite) Bloodborne character
He, like most other bb characters, is a fantastic piece of world building. We know part of the reason why the Healing Church has so much power over Yharnam is because of him!
His awareness of the Church's corruption and his choice to embrace it. He knows about the Fishing Hamlet, the Research Hall, and idk if it's blind loyalty, foolishness, or a blatant disregard for others. His line "kill me, as if to right your wrongs?" as to say, "you're just as corrupt as I, and killing me will not make you any more innocent" like ugh goddamn ok
He's so fkkin fascinating to me from an item description standpoint, like in the Bloodletter description where it ends with "or so Brador, isolated in his cell, continued to believe" about it expelling tainted blood is so?? So the Church lied to him?? Is he a groomed victim of the cultlike mentality just like everyone else?
Speaking of tainted blood- the Bloodletter might actually work because Brador has the highest beasthood in the game-- and he certainly hasn’t turned yet.
The Bloodletter in general. What a brutal fucking weapon. It and the Whirligig Saw are in the same tier of “whoever thought of this was a violent sicko who enjoys blood and gore” and Brador at least has some tolerance for repeatedly stabbing himself
Also the fact he wears a foreign garb much like the one we start out with! He might be from the same country our hunter is from. Or maybe he only wears it to further put the blame on everything horrible happening in Yharnam on foreigners?
His audacity, the audacity of this bitch, to taunt you into killing him. Like how many soulsbourne characters do you know just straight up laugh in the face of death. Even Varre dies like a poor little meow meow lol
At least he tries to warn you about going further into the nightmare? He’s not a senseless killer, he has a perfectly valid reason to kill you and that’s because you wanted to fuck around and find out lol
Why the fuck did he skin his compatriot and wear the hide. Why why why. There is literally. 0 ingame explanation on why he did this. I’m intrigued. Even though the headpiece is called Brador’s Testimony- his testimony to what?? You didn’t have to wear it to prove there was a beast lmao. But everyone’s headcanons are so different and cool and valid I just love to hear them
His beasthide garb looks warm and snuggly and I want to pet it
His cell. This is so important for characterizing him guys trust me lol. If you look around the perimeter you’ll notice that there’s six other cells in his goddamn cell, which tells us that he himself is not a prisoner, but more like a jailkeeper. He probably tortures people? But this is contradicted by his claim that he’s never entertained a guest before, unless he just means being hospitable to you instead of pulling your fingernails. In any case, I’d rather be in his cell than Irithyll Dungeon. *shivers*
His design. Just a guy in a suit and tie wearing a dead animal. He is wearing 2-inch heels. It works so well lol

I love love LOVE to think Ludwig had absolute respect for Simon, because Simon isn't afraid to be himself and unique. Simon never realized this, because he always looked up to Ludwig himself and didn't think the respect went both ways.
But you know..,. When Ludwig told Simon that he has a deep admiration for him.,.,. Simon finally realized that he had a chance all along 😭
Astera (Ludwig's horse) immediately trusted Simon from the start. That's Ludwig's litmus test for if someone is a good person or not, even though he always starts out with good faith in someone.
Simon knows about how shitty the Church is and sees how Ludwig puts blind faith in them. He doesn't say anything. He wants to get Ludwig out of there so so bad but he doesn't want to break his heart. Ludwig does know about the corruption, but he turns a blind eye to it and lies to himself about it. His main interest is protecting the people of Yharnam, in other words, cleaning up the mess Laurence leaves behind.
Simon likes to keep an eye on Ludwig during the hunt- even though Ludwig is perfectly capable of protecting himself, Simon will snipe any beast creeping up on him.
Likewise, Ludwig is worried that Simon will snap in half like a glow stick (he will) in a fight and will hover around him if they're together.
Secret meetings under the cover of night... Under the moonlight... Tender gestures of affection..,.,.
In a city full of xenophobes, Ludwig is an oddity for being so open and accepting of others. Simon, being an obvious 5 shades darker than everyone else, had few friends. Ludwig was one of those friends. Simon has genuinely never felt safer with anyone else. Ludwig is also a naturally protective person with a mellow exterior. Simon finds that..,., Adorable...,..,.,.,
Because of Ludwig's openness, Simon is more than willing to share aspects of his culture with him. Invite Ludwig for Rosh Hashanah! Bring some hummus and pita to the midnight picnic! And Ludwig shares as well, although it's more of a, "Let's drink a shit ton of beer because I'm German!" Alkdjfkskajdn Ludwig is more excited to tell Simon about the new Mane and Tail shampoo and why he should also use it... On himself.
On a side note Ludwig is in awe that Simon can fast, speaking as a man who drinks gallons of water a day and is half the Healing Church's food budget.
Also Ludwig learned a bit of Hebrew out of respect for Simon. Ooihhdhdjdkek
Also Ludwig likes carrying his significant others and you can imagine how flustered Simon got when Ludwig picked him up like he weighed nothing. Tbf Simon weighs nothing but you know dhdksksk
Ok post Nightmare specifically, Simon would still accept Ludwig for the giant horse beast he is now, but Simon finds it a little bit weird that he's also fused with his horse. Just a little.
