As Darren sat in the empty room engulfed in silence with his eyes closed, he thought back to a time before his parent's disappearance. They brought him on his first quest and got trapped in a cave after a cave-in caused the entrance to be blocked, so the trio had to camp out there. The minutes passed by the young scornbunny started to wonder if anyone would come for them, looking at his mother with a worried stare.

"M-Mom....." The scared child spoke, fear evident in his voice. "Is...is anyone gonna come for us.....I'm scared."

The cinderace, who was starting a fire, turned to the young mon with a smile. "Don't worry, honey, I'm sure someone will come for us, all we need is a little hope, and things will be ok."

Her voice was soft and soothing enough to put Darren at slight ease one question was still on his mind "But..... But what if no one is coming at all? Then what?"

"Well, we keep our hope alive." Replied his mother kneeling down to rub her child's head. "Even if things seem bleak, even if it seems like there's no way out, have hope it'll work out. The tiniest bit of hope can work wonders. Remember that."

Those words echoed in the raboot's head as he opened his eyes again, rising to his feet with a determined look on his face.

"That was the advice she gave me all those years ago... I can't forget them now, not here when there is a chance." Darren muttered to himself as he slowly walked over to the door. "I'll keep the hope alive just like you said. I'll find both of you, so we can be a family again!"

After what seemed like hours, the office door opened, and Darren stormed out in the direction he came from. His resolve renewed, and his heart set ablaze. It was clear he had found the strength to carry on.

"Darren! You came back!” Buttermilk had a look of pure joy as his boyfriend finally appeared after so long, almost tackling the raboot as he gave him a hug which made Darren giggle

“Calm down! You make it seem like I went somewhere far away hehe.” Darren replied, gently pushing the houndour off as Brynn walked over

“So, have you made a decision?” The glaceon asks, a worried look on her face

“Yes, I have. We’re going with you to help my parents.” Darren replied smiling as he faced Brynn

““We’re”?” Odin chimes in, tilting his head in confusion

“That’s right.” Darren looked left to right at his teammates and boyfriend before continuing. “If I’m doing this, I’m not going in without my best guild members or my best friends.”

This caused the houndour and two hybrid’s eyes to widen in surprise, a smiling Solblitz jumping up in the air.

“Darren, are you sure? This isn’t our fight.” A worried Ninjara asks, arms crossed

“Yes, it is,” Darren replies. “You three are as close to family as anyone else in this place. Not only that, who knows what sort of dangers could be lurking once we get there? I want the people I trust the most there with me when push comes to shove. I’m not just asking as a guildmaster; I’m asking as a friend”.

“I know I’m definitely going!” Solblitz suddenly exclaims, startling Ninjara. “We’ve been waiting for this chance for so long! No way I’m missing out!”

Buttermilk gets close to his boyfriend once again, nuzzling him slowly. “You already know I’m on board, hun. Can’t have my boyfriend dying, not if I have anything to say about it.”

Looking at both his friend and co-guildmaster, the dragonic frog shakes his head, smirking. “Then I guess I can’t say no, can’t have you lot getting into trouble with no one to bail you out.”

The glaceon smirks turning away from the group walking towards the exit. “Then it’s settled. Let’s hurry. We have to go somewhere and prepare as well as meet someone to can help us.”

“W-Wait, are you sure we should be taking everyone with us?” A worried Odin inquired to his partner

Brynn nods. “Darren has a point; it has been quite some time since our last visit who know what matter of enemy could be lying in wait to attack us. We need all the help we can get.”

The Dragonair sighs, chasing after Brynn. “I guess it can’t be helped. Come along now you four. Brynn is right; we have to gather some items and meet up with our contact.”

Darren looked at each of his friends with a resolute grin receiving one in turn from all three and running off to catch up with the pair ahead of them.

A few hours later

The group arrived at a vast area full of people, shops, stalls, an inn, and a tavern. Among the many bustling pokemon that were milling about, some included a zeraora being followed pokemon not quite like your the common variety known (@ask-glorious-guild), an alolan vulpix chatting with a rockruff, at a nearby berry stand a bulbasuar was buying some berries a torchic eagerly waiting by its side (double feature from @dawn-at-dusk), over at the inn, a pokemon resembling a cross between a thievul and a zoroark headed inside (@pokemonmercenaryspies), and finally, a shiny Eevee marveling at the display of a nearby weapons shop, much to the displeasure of the bayleef standing nearby(@luckystravels).

“Wowwww!” Solblitz exclaimed, looking around at the wonders before her. She seemed ready to explore and quickly turned to face Odin, floating next to her. “Hey Odin, what is this place!? It looks so cool, and there are so many pokemon!”

“This is the Universal Guild Hub or the UGH for short. Guilds from all over the world gather here to exchange information, team up, gather supplies, or even rest up. The UGH is also open to the general public; this is the place where we met Darren’s parents for the mission.”

Darren’s eyes were wide as he looked at all the pokemon occupying the hub. Like Solblitz, he was stunned by the amount of pokemon gathered here in one place.

“She the guardian of the temple Darren’s parents are trapped in,” Odin replied, looking around the tavern, which didn’t have many pokemon inside.

“Odin, take the kids over the Hopping Spoink to meet Vayu. I’ll go run a few errands for us.” The glaceon runs off, leaving Odin with the three fire types

“Whose Vayu?” Ninjara asks as he and the others head inside the tavern as Brynn instructed

Out of the more notable mons, a tapu koko seemed to have a small number of glasses next to him. He was smiling at the tapu bulu who looked like he had seen this scenario before (@ask-the-island-guardians). And what appeared to be a hybrid of a pikachu and latias sitting next to a pikachu currently eating some berries who Odin seemed to recognize.

“Yeah, that’s me.” Darren replied. “These are my friends Solblitz, Ninjara, and my boyfriend Buttermilk.”

“Speaking of which, there she is, and it seems she’s brought her brother along. Let’s go.” Odin remarks as he leads the others over to the booth

“Ah Odin, you’ve finally arrived, and I see you’ve brought Darren and who I assume to be his companions.” The hybrid said upon noticing the group at the table

“Sure, I don’t mind.” Darren said, getting comfortable in his chair

Vayu smiling bow a little “Pleasure to make your acquaintance. As I’m sure you’ve been told, my name is Vayu. This is my little brother Capala.”

The pikachu waves his mouth full of berries. “Hiya!”

“It seems like we have some time to kill since Brynn isn’t with us just yet; I assume she went to gather some supplies for us. Why don’t we chat, and you four can tell me a bit more about yourselves.” Vayu chimed in.

Well if you must know me and Ninji want to be the strongest at the guild and become famous adventures someday!

And we'll stop at nothing to achieve that dream even if it means competing with each other.

(neverlandfaerai) Peter floats around the Sylvizard curiously, bouncing from one angle to the next as he examines her. Though he does keep a bit of distance- wouldn't want his leaves to catch on fire now would he? "Got any tricks you can do? OOO CAN YOU MAKE RINGS OF FIRE AND FLY THROUGH THEM?"

Solblitz smiles at Peter's movements chuckling as she gets a bit closer

Well for starters you don't have to stay away it my look like my ribbons and tail are on fire their actually not, I've learned to control my flames thanks to Ma. Now as for tricks I have been trying to prefect a flying routine I've made up if that counts

A dignified, if somewhat snooty looking Delphox wearing fancy looking burgundy and yellow-orange roves comes walking towards the two Pokémon he'd seen waiting at the reserved table he set up earlier, a friendly smile on his face. Once he's close enough to be heard, he clears his throat loudly to catch their attention.

"Soooo...You two must be the explorers that accepted the job request?"

The two pokemon at the table immediately looked up at the fancy dressed delphox once he made his presence know, one was a fusion between a charizard and greninja had his eyes closed and upon hearing the greeting opened one of them

"Yes that would be us"

The hybrid's tone was fierce but at the same time soft

"And I assume you're Gabriel, pleasure to make your acquaintance"

At this point both eyes were open and focused on the fire type
