I really really love how Ronnie and Will are honestly the only characters with supportive parents.
Lily's mom thinks she's crazy, and while yes, it is understandable, the way she goes about it just isn't?? We don't know anything about Marge's parents in the show (I'm sure there's something outside of it with how established her family is in general but I'm not sure lol) Rich has a very seemingly good family + parents but he's unfortunately very dead and we only hear how he talks about his cousin/uncle.
Teddy/Theodore uris shows concern for Matty, or reads comic books and is immediately told to get over fairy tales bc real life is scarier. I understand what his dad is talking about but idk, it just comes across bad. Matty's parents (or really just his dad) is never shown but edged around like he's abusive, which, makes sense seeing how Matty himself acts. Phil and Susie aren't shown with their dad but the man teams up with a racist cult after he thinks a black man murdered them. Idk how to take that tbh. Difficult situation..
Will and his parents fight, and they do disagree but ultimately his father and mother do everything they can for him and have good morals. Charlotte goes out of her way to help kids being bullied, and the discrimination that happened to get Hank grogan arrested. She clearly cares about him and fights with Leroy after the man hit Will. Which while I will never excuse abuse, makes sense given the situation. Stressful, best friend died, kid where he's not supposed to be which SCARED him + kid wanting to fight evil god monster?? Insane situation. All about care. The only thing that scared Leroy Hanlon was his son being in danger after pennywise / IT took him. He constantly fought for his son, and went against the military and his belief in them for his son and his FAMILY!! I will defend him IDC.
Hank grogan wasn't perfect. He had his issues but he never STUTTERED when it came to ronnie. He wanted her safe, he wanted her away from the monster n he wanted her away from bullies n racists.
It's crazy to see people hating on these people in any capacity when they all actually CARE about their kids.
