Okay so back to work on this surfboard. Working on drawing out the design today. I’ve had this in my studio for a few days now just staring at it and cutting out a few more lotus flowers to figure out my placement. Also thinking about what glass I will use and movement (andamento) in this piece. There is a lot to consider. A lot that will work until you consider other things going on within the piece that will contradict an original idea. So I guess a lot of compromise and meeting in the middle so all parts work. Wish people understood just how much thought goes into mosaic art. What looks simple is actually very complex and very thought out. I can’t wait to start cutting glass to be honest. The design part for me is maybe the most tedious and hard to figure out. To quote Sonia King..”Mosaic is hard.
