Seasons of Albadone by Élan Marché and Christopher Warman!
"The magic in the story leans in the direction of fairy tales, but the paths the story takes fall into the realm of grimdark, harkening back to a time when fairy tales didn’t usually have happy endings and were intended to keep children inside after dark rather than lulling them to sleep. Fantastic twists and great writing make this book a must read for any lovers of the old stories where the forest was to be both respected, and feared."

One of the authors, and a friend of an author friend, agreed to a review exchange with me—and for once, I wasn’t disappointed! Jewels Of Smoky Quartz is a portal fantasy, much like Stranger Back Home. If you are unfamiliar with this sub-genre, it…
