Somehow I always end up in a hardhat in a cave - the Dark Cave is home to an 100 million year old animal community that depends on guano to survive. 🔦 Here we are standing in the pitch black darkness under 200,000 bats searching for half a foot long legged centipedes and the rarest spider in the world, "Liphistius batuensis". This Trapdoor Spider is the only one to make a nest rather than a web, setting traps to lure prey in then slam the door behind them while also including a emergency backdoor incase the spider needs to escape predators. #smartspider #spulunking #whatismylife #darkcave #kualalumpur (at The Dark Cave, Batu Caves)

Fantastic Pit is located in Ellisons Cave, just east of LaFayette, GA. it's 586' deep, which is the deepest known cave pit in the continental United States. This pit is big enough to hold the Washington Monument (555').
