absolutely loving the fic so far! Really curious how rowl feels about Hax coming home late as his roommate or if he ever spots Hax wearing infumes hoodie. Also i keep trying to imagine infumes perspective of the entire fic, reaching new heights while hax is gone, but the motivation to run, the excitement that came with it has also gone with him, and infume loved him then and still loves him even now, and he becomes determined to bring Hax back in some way. getting the first message from him in months, and knowing that Hax is in fact watching, that theres a chance for infume to see him again- i just really want to know infumes perspective sob

first of all, thank you for the support on my fic!!!

rowl has eyes and a brain so he obviously knows theres been something going on with hax and infume since like forever, especially with the way infume was acting during hax's absence LMAO. I actually did include more on rowl and mongey's thoughts on the whole situation in the upcoming chapter. i think hax is careful enough to not get spotted wearing infume's hoodie at home (he can barely look at himself wearing it without having a meltdown). thank god because that would be an awkward conversation to have with rowl.

and infume... oh infume. i've already been debating if i want to release like a short one-shot from infume's pov after i finish the main fic because i have a LOT of thoughts about it. for now, imagine several thousand words of pathetic gay yearning LOL

infume in this fic is pretty aware of his feelings, but he has always seen them as futile because there's no way hax likes him back. he kind of just takes what he can get with their friendship, and that'll have to be enough because in his mind this love is one-sided. except its not enough, and the crush doesn't go away - he just falls deeper and deeper. then hax leaves the sport and it's like his heart has been torn right out of his damn chest, but at the same time he knows hax wasn't happy with speedrunning anymore.

speedrunning without hax there is miserable, and infume almost considers quitting as well to chase hax, but in his mind there's no point in that because a) hax will never love him back and b) infume doesn't want to give up on his dream of winning a championship. infume can't quit now, especially since hax himself said infume would be sure to win multiple playoffs and that infume was the future of speedrunning. so instead he locks in on speedrunning and goes on a crazy training arc to try to mask the pain he feels for hax's absence, and in that process he gets the idea to bring hax back to speedrunning by showing him that there are still worthy opponents (himself) out there who will make the sport fun.

and then suddenly hax is back in the speedrunning scene and infume is elated but also unsure of how to act and the only thing he does know is that he can't let hax slip away again. he doesn't really hold back as much with his love this time around and that's why we see all the bold flirting from him and the very forward displays of affection.

also this chapter was kinda just harder for me to write for a multitude of reasons but its here now!!

silly thoughts from my shift at the haxfume factory:

i imagine infume was listening to the one that got away on repeat after hax retired from speedrunning (in your fic and irl probably). it’s their song atp lol. he also has his favourite cover of this song (which is slowed down acoustic and sadder version of the original).

omg a fellow haxfume worker hello hello this is absolute gold btw and im def going to find a way to work it into the fic now

thinking about infume moping in the gym and listening to this song full blast and the rest of hbg has just learned to put up with it after like the 6th or 7th time LMFAO

ohhhh but now im like imagining infume drunk karaokeing the acoustic version during like an hbg team night out or something and hes being all sad and pathetic about how much he misses hax and someone (probably danny or fein) videos it. infume doesn't remember the incident, and nothing really comes of the video until later when someone shows it to hax. hax gets really flustered but also his heart kinda aches for past infume as well (it's ok tho hax is here now and thats what matters)

maybe after that it becomes their song and they duet it during another karaoke night mmmmmm yes yes and then the song is no longer infume's sad gay yearning song, now it's their song and hearing it brings a smile to his face.

i love love love how you drew hax’s hair :3 they want to kiss so badly!! i also hope infume gets teased endlessly by hbg about his crush (/silly i’m a fan of whatever torment you decide to put him through in your fic)

thank you!!!! i'm glad u liked the art :D genuinely haxfume has me drawing again for the first time in like a year and a half. that scene in particular had me giggling and kicking my feet so hard while i was writing it i knew i just NEEDED to draw it
