For the prompt 'adornment | treasure' for @taashweek, Taash and Rook share a little post-Veilguard moment of friendship and Taash asks Rook's opinion on another gift for Lace.

Taash patted the lump in their pocket again, which jingled faintly. They’d packed up their things in the Lighthouse, took one last look around the empty room. It had meant a lot to them, being here. They’d found who they were, here. Sorta. Maybe they’d just found the words. And they’d found Lace. Taarala. They’d wished they could have introduced her to Shathann. Kind of. They liked to think that Shathann would have really liked her, and they thought she would have, eventually. Everything had always seemed like a test, with Shathann. Shokra toh ebra. Shathann would have wanted to make sure Lace was serious about her. They patted the lump absentmindedly again. It had been in their pocket ever since they’d left for Minrathous. Almost given it to her before she’d gone up the tendril with Rook, but they’d waited. Seemed like bad luck, then.

They heard the door open behind them.

“So…” said Rook, “you’ve been standing in an empty room for a long time, Taash. Never known you to be afraid of anything before.”

They grunted. They weren’t afraid, exactly, just… it was going to be a change. A change that they wanted, just…

“Thought I’d go home to Shathann, after this was all over,” they said. “Alone.”
