CS Fic Rec Monday: Author Rec @technicallysizzlingcloud

I have just been crazy about @technicallysizzlingcloud​‘s CS fan fiction for ages!!! She writes with such real, raw openness and honesty and deals with the sorts of issues, trauma, and healing that our beloved pirate and princess never got time to work on the show (at least not that we got to see).  I genuinely can’t tell you how many times I’ve re-read just her “Things Fall Apart (the center cannot hold)” one shot alone!! (The way Emma breaks about something that had to have plagued her, and finally tells Killian, and he helps her with the burden, is so cathartic!)

So, for today’s CS Fic Rec Monday, I thought I would give you some of my other faves of hers as well. (She’s also sariahbradshaw on ff.net, if you have trouble finding any of the fics or their later chapters with the links I’ve given.)

“And Baby Makes Three”  - This two shot is really powerful, and again the angst and the emotion and the way Emma and Killian lean on each other in this really gets me every time I read. Though I should warn you, there is also real pain involved here - and there is a quite sad supporting character death.  Still, it’s truly affecting and well done as well.

“Sleeping Arrangements” - This fic is billed as another two shot, but there are actually four parts to it now that it is completed. It gives us a lovely look at how Emma and Killian have changed each other for the better and made room for one another in their lives. It also gives some wonderful, determined Captain Cobra - and on a rescue operation at that! - before it’s done, and some great alt 6b action (it would have been really interesting to see this played out on the show.)

“Stop All the Clocks” - This one too has a lot of angst and can hurt, but in a good, cathartic way as Captain Swan struggle and heal and find a way to deal with their pasts and fight their demons together. At present, there are four parts of a planned six and I continually check, hoping to see how it all turns out. This took place toward the end of season five. Instead of Killian being sucked into the Land of Untold Stories, they are allowed time to deal with the repercussions of the Underworld.

Hand-tingling season 6 angst.

In the back of her mind, she knows it’s a dream.

But she doesn’t care.

His fingers are interlaced with hers,

and his breath tickles her ear as he leans into her.

“Swan,” his voice is so real that it wakes her.

Her hand is even tingling as though he’d really been there. 

“Killian?” she asks before she can stop herself.

But there’s no reply.

There’s nothing but an empty space in her bed and

her bare ring finger.

I am looking forward to sharing the piece and being a part of other author and artists's own contributions.

I don’t know if anyone else has commented on Anton being gay in this fic, so I am so glad you have! I just loved the idea of it and I snuck in a little joke with the name of his fiancee? Paul. For Paul Bunyan. LOL ;)

What is your writing process like?

Vomit words onto 50 pages with Merlot in hand...edit and condense to 25 pages the next day without wine. Wait a week and reread to see if it's decent or actual garbage. Replace superfluous adjective. Add bad pun. Post.

What do you think your greatest strength is as a writer?

Listening to how others tell a story.

What’s a particular trope or kind of story you’ve wanted to try, but haven’t gotten to yet?

Real world AU or non-canon relations. My imagination seems not to stretch that far.

Who is your favorite OUAT character to write?

Ruby: She's a bad-ass she-wolf who is loyal to a fault and looks fantastic in cardinal red.

If you are new to the Captain Swan Big Bang, what made you decide to sign up? What are you looking forward to?

I loved almost every piece that came out of the last BB and thought it would be fun to participate and see what I could concoct.

It's kinda an imaginary gap between returning from the Underworld to Hyde because I have issues with the fact that Swan and Hook were just peachy after being Dark Ones and screwing each other over.

Piercing (Tumblr)

I love writing domestic snippets. This would be my favourite piece, but I posted it at 1 a.m. and just said, "fuck it" to editing, so there are all these little errors that drive me up a wall. Other than that, it's cute.

I love the idea of Killian in an aquarium and being a total dork about it.
