Ruby had been here a long time. They all had, and the Earth was
just so big. Even all split up, Ruby worried that the squad would
never find Jasper! Besides, what would happen if one of the squad
members ran into trouble? When they were all looking in different
places, they couldn’t fuse, and they were all so small! And Earth
was so dangerous. Ruby didn’t even know how to summon a
weapon unless they were fused with the rest of their friends.
At least the Earth was pretty, too. Scary, but pretty. They had been
given a fairly nice place to look around, too. The sand of the beach
felt nice between their toes, although they always made sure to
keep their distance from the water. It always looked like it was far
away, but then it sneaked up to them all at once in one big WOOSH!!
Ruby took a quick glance around themselves to make sure they weren’t
being watched by anyone- especially of any of the other Rubies if they
were still around; they didn’t want to get caught slacking off!- before
taking a stick from the ground and poking at the water from a distance.
Just when they thought that maybe the water wasn’t so scary after all, they
heard a big SPLOOSH in the distance and lost their balance, tripping
backwards and falling down with a little yelp before scooting back to
avoid the next wave. The water had never done that before. Why was
it getting so aggressive all of the sudden?
As their eyes worriedly scanned the horizon for additional threats,
their eyes met another’s and they let out a sharp gasp, yelling as
they waved at the distant figure.
“Jasper! There you are! We’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
