A timing test.
Going Live - 8 This is after the second day of shooting. We had all the footage to cover all the shots, with some beginning tests of the plant. (The initial 3D model was done by Kevin). I cut all the footage together to check our timing. With this current version, we were at 43 seconds. Some of the issues I had with this were the building shot had a little hiccup in it and wasn’t a clean tilt up. We were missing a shot that matched the bird’s eye view that we had in our storyboards, but considering we were already over out time limit it was decided to cut that. I found the path to be too long and a bit out of place, but the last scene was short and could have been held longer. I was hoping we could shorten the path and lengthen the last. However, even after altering the path scene we were still sitting at 40 sec and couldn’t lengthen the last scene. At this point, it was suggested we reshoot all of our exterior shots in a different location. The storyboards at this point had a minor change. The original had the plant climbing over a rock and then a fallen tree, but given our limited footage that was swapped for a path.
just some more experiments with timing- and with a more painterly galaxy background. I’ve been looking at old sailor moon and toei animations to get inspired, and I really do love those bgs... I think I’m gonna paint some properly with acrylic and see how that looks, because as much as I love how quick digital is, it doesn’t look quite right for the effect I wanted...
When I have my model spaceship, I’ll drop it in and see how that looks- I might even try to overlay some starry clouds over it like I did with the smoke-I’m a big fan of how that turned out!
I took a break from drawing to animate.
Then I couldn't sleep because it's so cold.
and here I am at 2:30 in the morning.
I drew the hole punches wrong...
