Haas Calibration Tools:
Though I hate to admit it, I crashed a probe tip in the Haas the other day and I was forced to buy another and recalibrate the machine. For that process, I needed a rod and bore of known diameter. I had a calibration bore from another project but I needed to make my own calibration bar.
For this, I used my trusty toolpost grinder (Dewalt with a block bolted to it) to cut the fluted part of an old reamer off and square off the bottom. Once that was done, I use a 5 digit micrometer to get a good measurement of the shaft and engraved both diameter measurements with our laser machining center. The bore was already labeled, but it was in millimeters, I felt it was worth the time to add the English equivalent.
