I think my two favourite right now are two steps forward, one step back and Daisy Evans, the girl who stood true!

The former is my biiiig mcu Parkner post NWH fic with two arcs written out of 6-7 arcs planned that follows Peter's life at MIT with a new group of friends and a new hero team. There's a lot of big life challenges the various characters are dealing with ranging from questioning queer identity to deep rooted trauma, but my characters always come out the other end because they have the support network and found family they need and they get nice things!

Daisy Evans is my harry potter fanfic/foefic following the titular character Daisy, trans girl kid who lived, in her time at Hogwarts. I'm using the overarching plot structure of canon but with my own worldbuilding and character changes. It's found family again but in the literal sense of Daisy gets adopted by people who were considered family by the potters and Sirius. One thing I love about it in particular is Daisy's character development over the seven years because she goes from this traumatised insecure meek girl with some seeds of immense courage planted from the start to an absolute warrior queen!! I've put a lot of work into this fic to unpack the bigotry that Rowling packed into potter verse and spitefully make it full of inclusion and representation :3

I think of my longfics I also have to mention What It Takes, which is a Naruto fic that I started writing on a whim quite some time ago, which considers the idea of what if Naruto grew up not being naive, and knowing exactly what it takes to become Hogake. Feat. genderfluid/nonbinary Naruto and his queerplatonic boyfriend Hinata and his romantic boyfriend Sasuke; Team 7 is Naruto and The Boys hehehe

Shorter fics my favourite to write was probably the honey and glass fic, feat trans girl spidey and lesbian Harley Keener. It's just very,,, two points in time of Sera's journey figuring out her identity but centred around the ship and how that played a role in her trans joy

kamala khan/bruno carrelli but bruno is nonbinary and keeps her short hair and doesn't wear much makeup or anything like that but they wear skirts and tights all the time and kamala is super hyped to help bruno explore and they kind of fall into the relationship part-way through

At one very key moment in the fic this song is exactly precisely completely Harry's vibe. He's a lovable softie who would almost never hurt anyone with his magic

TWO STEPS FORWARD ONE STEP BACK

Sam closed his eyes. He knew what he needed to do. What was expected from him. He still had a hard time accepting what it meant, everything that had happened to him in the last couple of months. It hadn’t take long until had was released from the hospital, and it was nice to not have to stay there but that hadn’t meant that he was allowed home.

No, he had to enter a rehab. It was almost like had taken two steps forward when he was released from the hospital just to take a step back. The rehab was both to make sure that he didn’t use, and got a good ground to fall back on, and not let the drugs takeover again. And of course he needed some physical rehab too, something about building up his strength again, and for them to keep an eye on his heart.

Sam had no idea on if he would be able to ever play basketball again. He had asked about it more than once, both if he could play, or if he could get a ball to throw some free throws, but he never got a response for it. But he was moving forward, and he knew that back in his mind the thought of Rachel was nagging him. There had been visitors, mostly Quinn, and to his surprise Kurt had been a lot more than he had expected. Sam knew that he would need to face Rachel about everything but he still wasn’t sure on how he was supposed to do that. 

It had to be figured out before he was out of here, because he knew that he couldn’t go back to living alone, he wouldn’t be allowed to do that, not at first, and Sam wasn’t sure if he would be able to survive if he was only living with his father, and his mother. Maybe he could convince Burt that he should stay with them just to make sure that he didn’t fall back into bad habits.

He let out a sigh and ran his hand over his hair, eyes closed as he pushed himself further, and he made the decision that he would contact Rachel to help him figure out what was going on, and how to deal with it all.

Two Steps Forwards, One Step Back

This is a prologue to one of my on going/never ending novellas.

It was an icy Saturday morning when she started volunteering at Tansley Woods. She was just checking out a program called Adventures and Aquatics, which was for kids with disabilities. She wandered around talking to all the kids, asking their names and such. She ended spending most of the three hours with Caleb and Thomas. I hadn’t really talked to her myself yet, I was with James that day and he required all of my attention, but when I did let my eyes drift from James, all I could look at was her. She was great with Caleb and Thomas. Thomas kept hugging her, which was huge as Thomas doesn’t like many people (and to be honest, many people didn’t like Thomas as his disability caused him to be violent and rude).

Throughout the first two hours of the morning, I kept watching her. She had something enchanting about her. Caleb was fascinated with her twisted red hair; he kept touching it, taking one of his hands off his walker to grasp a stand of hair for a moment then letting it fall down to her shoulder. She was a comical person; I could tell that much, neither Caleb nor Thomas could stop laughing the whole morning. She played ball with the boys when we went to the gymnasium.  She sat with the boys at snack, opening their granola bars for them. All the while she seemed to be truly enjoying herself. 

After snack, we headed to the pool, the kids got to go swimming for half an hour. As we walked down the hallway to the change rooms Thomas begged her to go swimming with him and Caleb. She told them regretfully that she did not have a bathing suit with her today. She assured the pair that she would have her suit next week for sure.

Later, on the pool deck while Caleb waited for his lifeguard to come take him out of his chair (Caleb used a wheel chair sometimes.)While I made sure James got into the pool, she played with him, pretending that he was taking her nose and throwing it across the pool deck. Caleb didn’t tire of this game; he soon pretended to take her arm, and then her leg. When I passed her by, she asked me to get her leg for her. I happily obliged. I then sat down, having nothing else to do then sit. She soon joined me as Caleb was taken into the pool.

“Will you come back next week?” I asked her, knowing full well that the answer was yes.

She twisted towards me and responded, “Of course, how could I not? I did promise Caleb and Thomas I would go into the pool with them next week.”

“The kids are incredible, I love being around them.” I told her.

“That’s a perk to the job.” She agreed.

“And as an extra bonus, you will receive one of the handsome yellow polyester shirts!” I exclaimed.

“You don’t say!”  She laughed.

“I’m Matthew, by the way.”

She extended her hand, “Lenora.”

That was the day I met my wife.
