For my unexplained phenomenon I am creating a 1950s’ saucer image. It will be at a distance in a composed landscape. The legitimate image will be shot from Greenock overlooking the Firth of Clyde as this forms quite an uncluttered and atmospheric frame, yet with enough detail to hold ones attention. I was considering a quite blatant hoax such as throwing a hubcap or frisbee with a yogurt pot glued to the top and sprayed a gun metal silver as quite a few from this era did just that. This would have enabled a panning shot which would have given us the added element of speed, however I want the image to look far more believable.
The other favoured method was to add the saucer in post production using darkroom techniques and I have decided on a modern take on this. My saucer will be constructed and edited then added in Photoshop to the authentic landscape. The image will be black and white and the landscape will be sharp. I will add in grain and use a graduated filter in Lightroom to add the finishing touch.
The composite should look and feel like a classic 1950s’ image but of a higher standard than those made at the time.
Quality is the key to this as I feel that for the vast majority of these images it has been lacking.
