"I can confirm you still snore," Viola teased as Danny stirred next to her. One of her birthday requests had been him staying over and having a good ol fashioned sleepover with her best friend. She was trying to not have too many existential crises about turning 34 but she had still been sitting up this morning thinking about the past year and beyond. The past year had felt especially tough but she cuddled closer to Danny and patted his chest. "I'm making coffee and starting the day with some champagne. You in? My co workers already gave me a gift card to use on breakfast so I'm not cooking until the dinner."

"Hey, dinner is ready. You feel like coming out or you want to stay in here?" While Viola would always prefer for them to eat out in the dining room together, she was trying not to force it these days. Some days were better than others and Viola was just trying to give him the space and time he really needed to heal. She knew they were through the worst of it and yet she wasn’t sure. Life would never be the same, she knew that, especially for Rune. For the rest of his life he’d always have to live with the memories of what he had seen and what happened to him and he would never be able to erase that. Never be able to go back. And there wasn’t a single thing Viola could do about it. It hurt so much to know that, to know she couldn’t just take the memories from his mind and the pain from his body and heart. It had truly been the most heartbreaking things she had expressed. “Whatever you want it’s fine, it’s hot food so I just want to make sure it’s on the right plate.” @withncmercy​

To say the day had been lovely would have been an understatement. Viola had thought her 33rd had been great but standing in her house now, with her favorite people surrounding her dinner table was definitely going to be her new favorite memory. The day had been easy and with Danny by her side she had been able to actually enjoy herself. She had been a bit nervous about having everyone over. All of her worlds colliding and their house being the most full it had been since before Rune's attack. She hadn't wanted him to feel overwhelmed but she also knew he would be sadder if she didn't celebrate the way she wanted. Still, as folks were mingling and pouring drinks, she slid her arm around her brothers, smiling as they stood off to the side, watching Stevie sniff around the backyard. "When he comes back in and sees how many people are here, he's going to go on a crazy butt sniffing frenzy," she joked and lay her head gently on Rune's shoulder. "You okay?"

“Happy to report I finished my last final and I am officially done with my third year of law school.” Viola smiled at Jo over the meal they were sharing, grateful to have some time out with her. She had been wanting to take her to dinner for a while but life had prevented that. “It was kind of a bitch and I definitely did not sleep at all the past two weeks from studying but fuck, I did it. I feel pretty proud, I’m trying not to let it get to my head but I’m kind of feeling a bit like Superwoman right now.” Except Viola was exhausted. She felt like she had been holding her breath for months with no end in sight. She had barely gotten through finals and had mostly kept it all to herself. Her sleep was fucked, she woke up in the middle of the night terrified. Some nights she’d just sit in front of Rune’s door until she fell asleep, living in a constant state of fear of losing him. Or even coming close to it. “So this dinner is totally my celebration dinner,” she said and held up her drink. “And to you hopefully meeting your deadline? Did you?
