On the 5th Day of Christmas, #golf gave to me...Forest Dunes. A smart, fun challenge from start to finish, the Weiskopf design strikes a great balance of resistance to scoring and playability. The variety of the settings are magnificent, as the routing moves from sandy marsh to heavy woods to orchard flats and back to the sandy clubhouse surrounds. The strategies of the holes vary as much as the setting, providing players with plenty of width from which to play (and recover). Sand is omnipresent, in the form of bunkers and waste areas, but it's so well maintained that it need not even be a ½ shot penalty. It was an exciting course to play, so much so that we played it twice the same trip, a new experience for us.
