Wep Ronpet 2023
@caffeine-and-sunshine and I were very excited to celebrate our first kemetic new year together so we decided to go all out and bake cookies and make candles for everyone! This post will be *very* image heavy so fair warning. <3

23 years ago today, when I was about to begin my freshman year of high school, I came across an article on the internet that blew my mind. It explained how there are people today who believe in Egyptian gods (Set in particular), and how we are not dangerous or silly weirdos, but regular people like everyone else for the most part. For Duat's sake, one of the most well-known Setian writers was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Armed Forces, which is no small feat you know.
This information dismantled everything I had been conditioned to think about Paganism in general by my mostly secular (but also very Protestant) upbringing. Despite feeling irresistibly pulled to the Netjeru as a little kid, I was told growing up that "No one believes in such false idols" anymore. It didn't help that whenever Kemetic-esque characters showed up in popular culture, we were usually cast as villains or monsters to be defeated. The message was overwhelmingly clear: "The spirituality you want is either childish or degenerate," and never anything meaningful or good. But here, finally, was an external reinforcement of what I had already known deep within myself for years. During those few minutes it took me to read that article I found on August 15, 1997, I blossomed from a reluctant agnostic to a full-blown Companion of Set.
Merry Wep Ronpet; Blessed Wafaa el-Nil; Happy Egyptian New Year!!!

Wep Ronpet 2017: Day 1
So the day started with me waking up early(ish) and driving 100 miles back home. I played some music for the Gods and sorta offered up the road trip to them. It was sorta nice. I work tonight so i cant do much until later tonight but i hope to light a candle, and burn some incense for Osiris (whom Ive never worked with so im pretty nervous) and maybe ask for a reading from him. No idea what else to offer him as again ive never worked with him before but I'll figure something out.
Wep Ronpet 2017: Day 3
Spent most of the day at work and mainly procrastinated once I got home. I have no clue what I want to offer to Set nor do i know what he'd like offered. I have to prepare for the Renaissance Faire but oh boy all my energy is being spent on making myself sassy/petty and being pissed at idiots. Maybe i can offer my rage to Set. Take it. Take all my petty, sassy rage.
Wep Ronpet 2017-- The Day After
I’m kinda disappointed in how little I got done that I wanted to on Wep Ronpet. All I did really that was cleaning was to wash the new statues I got for my altars. :/ am i still going to reward myself with a sparkly bath? Yes. Yes I am.
Wep Ronpet 2017: the actual Wep Ronpet day
Well i did nothing i planned to do and instead went shopping with my family bc Im a bad worshipper.
I had a fun time though and dyed my little cousins hair half purple, as well as my own. I guess in a way it was still a celebration. Gonna make a paper snake to UTTERLY DESTROY and do a reading that i noticed just now in my ask box.
((I also bought cinnamon incense sticks for Loki and got drunk and played Smite as him because why the hell not. Oddly enough i did pretty darn well for being drunk. 8 kills 1 death. And that death was literally because i got turned around and walked my drunk ass right into the enemy fountain. Like a fool. A mortal fool. I have pictures of the stats to prove it lmfao))
