It suddenly struck me how wondrous Paul Feig is. He could’ve, as a director, try to force Holtzmann into standard trope boxes, make her more conventional, make Kate fit her performance into more commonly seen and stereotypical traits. 

Instead, he gave her so much reign, and we get this marvellous character of an end result, untethered and free. This is Dr. Jillian’s character, and it is also Kate’s performance coming through. And I am so glad for that.
