Spoilers for Black Powder War Chapters 4-5
Hello Everyone,
My life has been busy and I’m sorry to say I hadn’t made much progress in the Black Powder War until today. I’ve finished both chapters 4 and 5 and the end of part 1. As I have made enough progress let me just share a few of my feelings and opinions on the book as it stands now.
Spoilers Start Here:
OMG THE FERAL DRAGONS!!!!!!!! When they showed up, I was like we have wild dragons to deal with and I was like will there be a fight until they flew off. I felt like Temeraire slightly disappointed but as I read on, I understood why they left.
The poor eagle!!!!! I liked it, for all that it did very little in the plot. I’ve met one with a similar discription in real life. She was very intelligent as all of her species I was told and the handler was nice. So, I’m bias to liking the bird and sad to see it gone.
My prediction for Lien was partially right but apparently, they are going through Turkey which is something I didn’t see. But she is going to France and her companion is definitely the French Ambassador. I predict we will see her more later in the book or in the next one being put to use by Napoleon for something.
I’ve kind of fallen for the feral dragon tribe. Arkady is an interesting leader since he relies on his intelligence and not his outright power to lead. Then his lieutenants Molnar and Wringe, they keep the others in line and seem to get along well. Gherni is a little troublemaker. Hertze is an interesting in regards to his camouflage. And I fell in love with the dragon with a broken wing and how sad he was to be left behind. I just love him.
I love their culture and their story so far, which if subtext can be believed one of the male leaders, Arkady or Molnar, will mate with the female lieutenant, Wringe, and have an egg. But I might be over reading into their little story. But it would make sense especially after the emphasis put on the battling dragons wanting a mate and the fight between a mated pair involving their egg.
On that note I’m not sure of how I feel for this situation they left our crew in. They made a liar out of Laurence which seems to be becoming a trend. Presented them as thieves before the people they wish to get dragon eggs from. And their luck is bad as their Ambassador is dead and can’t vouch for them. Then everything seems to be working out as Mustafa waves away the miss behavior of the feral dragons much to Captain Ertegun’s upset.
The Kazilik dragons sound so pretty and dangerous and I know we hear about one before but I can’t help thinking that they are warm and sound like two of my favorite things boiling water for tea and the purr of a cat. I’m just saying I wouldn’t mind having a Kazilik dragon.
Also, for all that travel and trouble that they have gotten into they are only told that they can’t take the eggs. Like really, why did they travel so far then! And I don’t think that they are going to go back to England without at least an egg!
I’m certain they get a least one Kazilik dragon because they are on the cover of the book and there is this whole journey set up for it and I refuse to believe they won’t get one. Though it is possible they won’t and will get their eggs from elsewhere, maybe the feral dragons based on my predicted egg from the leaders. Though, I’m not sure yet if we will ever even see the feral dragons and again and this might be just wishful thinking as I really love the injured one that was left behind.
Oh, well, I guess we will have to wait and see.
A mangle or wringer is a mechanical laundry aid consisting of two rollers in a sturdy frame, connected by cogs and, in its home version, powered by a hand crank or electricity. While the appliance was originally used to wring water from wet laundry, today mangles are used to press or flatten sheets, tablecloths, kitchen towels, or clothing and other laundry.https://flic.kr/p/2dY7qfg
Not even a threesome with Ben and Jerry is lifting my mood...never does when I’ve hurt someone. I don’t even know how I did it. :(
