“Ahh! Guoba! You’re disturbing Mr. Zhongli again!”
In contrast to Xiangling’s distressed voice, Guoba only looks up from his snack and tilts his head, making a totally guilt-free noise. Seriously, this panda of hers! She was just taking her eyes of him for a second to look for ingredients, but in that split moment Guoba already made his way out of the kitchen, taking a seat beside the Consultant of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor who just arrived for lunch. Although they know the man, it’s still improper to join someone on their private table without invitation. But apparently to Guoba that’s not the case.
“Good day, Miss Xiangling,” Zhongli greets. “I see you’re helping your father in the kitchen today.”
Xiangling gasps into her hand. “Oh, where are my manners! Hello, Mr. Zhongli! Yes, we had a huge order this morning so I’m helping for the whole day. Is Hu Tao not with you?”
Zhongli shakes his head. “No. Director Hu has some business with Master Xingqiu today.”
“Ahh, I see, I see.” Xiangling nods, then turns her attention back to Guoba. She waves the ladle she’s holding, gesturing to Guoba to come to her side. “Come on, Guoba! You shouldn’t disturb a customer like that!”
Yet strange enough, despite usually being obedient, Guoba refuses to leave Zhongli’s side, instead continues to eat his food. Sighing, Xiangling walks toward her panda, about to pry him away from her customer. “I’m so sorry, Mr. Zhongli…”
The raise of Zhongli’s hand halts Xiangling. “If I may, Miss Xiangling,” he says, “You can let him sit with me. I don’t mind the company.”
“Um…” Xiangling blinks, eyes darting back and forth between Zhongli and Guoba. Guoba raises a hand and makes a happy noise, while Zhongli is looking at him with a smile. But what turns Xiangling speechless is that despite the smile, there’s a trace of melancholy on the man’s face.
“Besides, it’s not the first time,” Zhongli chuckles as he sips his tea, to which Guoba makes an agreement noise.
“Guoba, it’s not something to be proud of…” Xiangling slaps her forehead. But it’s true; this is not the first time Guoba invites himself to Zhongli’s meals. It seems he’s very attached to Zhongli, but as for why, it’s a complete mystery to Xiangling.
Seeing how happy her panda and her customer, the young chef gives in. “Well, if you don’t mind, Mr. Zhongli. But please tell me if he does something bad like stealing your food!”
Zhongli laughs warmly at her warning. “Of course, Miss Xiangling.”
She decides to make one serving of chili-mince cornbread buns on the house for Zhongli for the trouble, but the joy she witnesses when they eat it together tells her that it’s no trouble in the least for the gentleman.
Did somebody say 'redesigns'? No? Well, whatever.
Anyway, I've been at summer camp all week so I doodled up some of my babies being dorks. Tell me what you think between the old vers. and these so I know what I can change...
Overall, I have to say Dorlea changed the most...I looked over my old designs, and felt kind of racist b/c they're like, all white, so I have a bit of variation here. Bresnya is Japanese, Dorlea is African-American, and I honestly can't tell if Adri is Chinese or not... XD Zadd and Cohds are both Caucasian for now, seeing as certain plot details may be changed...Idk...
Also my scanner sucks so forgive the quality *flies into sun*

Z: Um...That's probably not even my real name.
