Review and Spoiler #35
All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
This is a novel, a New York Times bestseller, a movie, but ultimately, All The Bright Places is the sublime and melancholic tale of Theodore Finch and Violet Markey.
Before I knew of the book, I watched the movie by chance, and how it affects the soul. Finch's sarcastic and chaotic energy always brought a smile to my face. While Violet's stubbornness and pain radiated from the screen, searing my heart. The soundtrack fit perfectly, and to this day I still listen to it. But once I found the book, everything about the movie burst out in a new intensity.
Finch is evermore running out of time to be truly alive and awake, but when gloomy Violet catches his eye, things change. He wants to stay as long as he can, to make sure Violet lives her life to the fullest.
Violet is the husk of the enthusiastic writer she once was, having lost her sister the year before, left pitied and dispassionate. Then comes Finch, who, with the help of a partner project in school, takes her out of her shell of excuses and sorrow, on a journey around their state and into her heart.

For anyone it applies to, and whomever might see this, I ask a question:
Are Greek mythology retellings of interest to people? Would people spend money on such stories and read them?
If so, how adapted? More realistic? Or entirely changing the plot of the history?
For example, the webcomic (And graphic novels) Lore Olympus, by Rachel Smythe, fantasizes the story of Persephone and Hades, when the mythology makes for a much darker tale.
Want to learn about Greek and Roman mythology? Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! is definitely my favorite podcast to listen to.
"The most entertaining and enraging stories from mythology told casually, contemporarily, and (let's be honest) sarcastically. Greek and Roman gods did some pretty weird (and awful) things. Liv focuses on Greek and Roman mythology's (mis)treatment of women, the wild things the gods did, and the all-around incredible minds of the ancient world. Gods, goddesses, heroes, monsters, and everything in between. Regular episodes every Tuesday, conversations with authors and scholars, or readings of ancient epics every Friday."
Highly recommend to those of interest or fans of myths/sarcasm.
midnight!

We are all humans, real, loving, proud, and ever-adapting. As we go through life, we’ll all discover our identities, and change as we grow comfortable and confident within ourselves. People can really suck, but never let that stop you from loving who (or nobody) you want, or expressing your gender identity (or lack thereof).
Love you!

Review and Spoiler #34
Every Day by David Levithan
What if, you knew only inconsistency? What if, every day you woke up in a new body? What if, you broke the rules... and fell in love?
Every Day is a fantasy and young adult romance novel, depicting the story of a gender-less character called "A". For as long as "A" can remember, "he" has awakened in someone else's body every day. "A" never woke in the same body twice, never for any longer or shorter than 24 hours, and always in the body of someone his own age. "A" can access information about them, routines, names, some memories even, but not how they feel. Not how they think or see the world.
David Levithan continuously brings the theme of respect to light, throughout the novel. "A" always respects the body of the person "he" is in, and always tries to do the best for that person. "A" tries "his" best to not alter the person's life in any drastic ways. As different lives mean different stories, it is interesting to look at how the characters in the novel are going down the road of life and overcoming obstacles in almost every chapter all with different experiences, personalities, relationships, etc.

"Weekend At Bernie’s"
Starring Andrew McCarthy (Jerry), Jonathan Silverman (Richard), and Terry Kiser (Bernie), the film is a thrilling dark comedy, following two co-workers and friends, Jerry and Richard, as they spend the weekend at their boss's posh beach house.
Hot, miserable, and overworked in a New York summer, the two discover a $2 million mistake among the computers and documents of the insurance company they work at. They go to their boss to report it, resulting in a shocking and welcomed invitation to join their boss at his weekend party house to discuss and celebrate the discovery. They continue to make discoveries at his house. The extent of his richness, his wild partying behaviors, and much more...
Spoiler: Jerry and Richard discovered something that they weren't supposed to. Mr. Bernie Lomax crossed the wrong person.
I'm alive!! <3
The last time I posted, it was a measly reblog, while of a funny post, it came with no effort from myself. I can't promise posts as consistent as from the beginning of last year (one every day), but I'll try to post more steadily this year.
I hope you all have had wonderful holidays and are having a good start to your New Year.

Solitaire by Alice Oseman
Originally published in 2014, formerly mentioned genius and author, Alice Oseman's, book Solitaire was a riveting, emotional experience. A sort of unintentional prequel to her series Heartstopper. While the popular, light-hearted Heartstopper series did go over some deeper, darker topics, it remained sweet, endearing, and oh-so queer. On the other hand, the thorough masterpiece known as Solitaire provides a realistic, tear-wringing, in-depth perspective of the mind of a lonely teenage girl. Heartstopper's dear bean Charlie's, elder sister, Tori Spring. You know, the one with "elder sister magic" and diet lemonades at all times.
This story was poetic, Tori Spring direct and brash and honest and unapologetic, unlike most people, and generally raw. I found it meant a lot to me, as I read, the emotion and details, the realism, and truth of it all. I could confidently assume that many other readers could relate to it, and appreciate the feeling of being seen by the sweet guardian, Ms. Oseman.
